Does ANYone know how to convert a WMV file into an MPEG, or at least some format that Kinoma Producer supports? I have some WMV's that I'd like to play on my Clie, but I gotta convert them to something else first!

tMPGenc works, but some of the times you lose sound. So you might try to use asfTools to try to convert the asf into a wav file, then use the mpg program on the asf file and use the wav file you created as the audio part. I've done this with varied success.

I was actually in the process of trying out TMPGEnc when you posted that. I only did a clip of what I wanted to do, just to test it, and as far as I can tell, it works fine. Just need to adjust the Audio settings, cause the audio was kinda muffled. And I need to play with the aspect ratio and size so I can get the best video and save the most space. If you have any suggestions for the settings, please let me know. Or if you have a group of settings that work well, just save those settings and post the preset file!

I use TMPGEnc all the time for converting videos: it works real well. I have no trouble so far with sound issues.

VirtualDub ver.1.3c (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/virtualdub_1_3c.cfm) does support asf/wmv files, and allow to convert the stream, to another avi format - compressed (divx, xvid, video1, etc.) or uncompressed (huge files!!!).
Notice - the latest version won't allow you to import asf/wmv files.

The link above is what you need...
"...video, audio and bitmap formats supported (avi, mpeg, quicktime, real media, wmv, asf, jpeg, gif, mp3, ...)"
It's not a free program...shareware...
But it will convert form whatever source to whatever you want :)
Cheers!

Thanx Mr. Spic! Now I can convert back to MEPG1 so I can browse thumbnails in windows AND embedded my clips in PowerPoint.
