I bought a new battery from Vincent and have been waiting to put it in my daily-use E1 (next in line for a battery. . .) because I haven't had the time to worry about rebuilding many of the programs that come with a new battery.
I woke up this morning and the '55 would not power on. I left it in my belt case and I guess it got stuck in a loop or on hold somehow and it completely drained the battery. So after remembering that BackupMan's automatic backup should work just fine (and it did,) I went ahead and changed batteries, did a hard reset on my backup (freshly charged of course) and put in my 2GB MS and proceeded to install last night's backup!
Other than that, my backup only needed a nice screen cleaning and a fresh screen protector and I am good to go other than reloading the cc5 car cradle apps.
NOW FOR THE BAD NEWS :( I will be selling my worn-well-but-fully-functioning E1! With this move I will also be relinquishing my membership in the Nutcase Club. We bought a 2001 Jayco Heritage Laurel popup camper a couple of months ago and to help pay for it I told my wife I would sell off all my extra Sony handhelds laying around including my backup E1.
Camping is our new family hobby and ultimately replaces my personal hobby of Sony CLIEs. . . So once my original E1 is gone I will sadly update my status to reflect the most recent changes.
