I just want to share a very interesting information obtain from the VFS Mark Benchmark program ran in my NX70v. The models of card used was the Sony 128mb MS & Sandisk 512mb CF. Even though the results were almost the same, the MS reached higher numbers in overall.

The results were the following:

VFSMark Results on CF

File Create: 84%
File Delete: 114%
File Write: 40%
File Read: 200%
File Seek: 161%
DB Export: 62%
DB Import: 151%
Record Access: 212%
Resource Access: 182%

VFSMark: 134

VFSMark Results on MS

File Create: 105%
File Delete: 58%
File Write: 25%
File Read: 149%
File Seek: 168%
DB Export: 76%
DB Import: 231%
Record Access: 233%
Resource Access: 210%

VFSMark: 139

As the test shows, in some areas the CF performed better than MS and in other the MS blew away the CF.

I hope, in future CF driver updates, to see those numbers climbing.

Can any of you with different cards post your results? I would like to see what external cards perform better.

Thanks.

Hmm 2 questions.. Did you use the Magic Gate Sony MS? Also, why didn't you use a 128MB CF Card? Considering the difference in size I would imagine that the CF card would be a little more hindered.. Correct me if I'm wrong..

Please check this thread for more discussion of benchmark results:

Short version:

- VFSMark can be a misleading statistic
- The performance of one CF card compared to a different MS will vary
- based on my comparison of a normal memory stick with a normal speed CF card - the Memory stick was faster !

This has little to do with the driver (ie. don't expect updates to radically increase transfer speed). This has a lot to do with the CF card. Older/Cheaper (slower speed) CF cards are on par with a memory stick. Faster CF cards are more expensive. Your mileage will vary !

NOTE: speed is independent of storage capacity. And in fact the large capacity 1GB Sandisk cards tend to be very slow.

----

IMHO: if you have a few older CF cards (under 128MB) you want to reuse - don't bother. You can buy a 128MB memory stick for about the price of the driver.

If however you want to invest in faster CF cards, or higher capacity CF cards (say 512MB or 1GB), then the CF driver will beat out the comparable memory stick option (in speed &/or price)
