It is ironic that I, who don't own a Zire 22 will start to exploit this topic to promote Palm. Hopefully we get more guests here to explain the use of the most inexpensive (new) Palm available. For an introduction here is a You tube video done in Sept. 2006:

I also believe that Palm also has a video too, but we'll go there when necessary.
Hopefully I will have my own Palm handheld class, but we'll see....

Beware of those sellers who sell Handhelds without chargers and other stuff.
Some peolpe like to start cheap, I have by buying used. My first Palm was a PalmIIIC. Even though it didn't have an installation CD it had the box and charger. It is quite possible for an owner to lose a CD, but not easy for someone fencing a handheld without a box. Since the handheld looked new, if it was stolen the previous owner probably didn't get much use from it.
However the TE2 that I got was an iffy item, some of the data was still on it and it probably used either bluetooth or wi-fi because it has a browser. It was sold with no box or hotsync cable and of course no installation CD. It also turns out that the seller's name reflected differently from the handheld name and this person repeatedly sells handhelds yets shows little experience of using them...
When you register with Palm there could be a problem where the serial number is reported. All palm devices have unique serial numbers (it is wise not to publicly give it out) even though there is a statue of limitation for receiving stolen goods.
If you pay over $40 for something it is a good idea to ask for some form of paperwork to show ownership. If you invest time with your handheld you can easily use up more than $40 worth of your own investment of time.

Things that interfere with hotsync:
When you quick install there is a screen that must be checked. It then gives you an option for Z-31 users to place program onto the card. However if you didn't check the screen the hotsync program will abort quickly.
Here's a sample:
HotSync operation started for z31 on 08/19/07 21:49:16
HotSync Error: An application cancelled sychronization or failed to respond to a HotSync notification. Please ensure that you are not currently editing data using applications such as Palm OS Desktop or Install Tool. (8009)
