I needed to do a hard reset. Now I can't get past the digitizer screen. The TX responds to my screen taps, but I can't get past this screen. I have cleaned the screen with a spectacles lens cloth and tried to remove dust from the gap between the screen and the case with some paper but nothing works. Any ideas?

A soft reset should let you go out of the digitizer screen pressing the hard buttons. Test if it is calibrated. If not, you may have a bad screen. If you are under warranty, you may call Palm for a replacement. If not, you can try some other digitizer programs. If it still doesnīt cure your problem, you can buy a screen at www.pdaparts.com and change it. Itīs not too tough. :)

when on that screen tap the targets a few times over, then reset. you will be past that screen, bt overflow will not be unpacked (thus no wifi or any such thing) You will need to restore from backup, or install overflow databases from elsewhere to get full functionality. for screen correction, powerdigi will do

Thanks for your help .... but even if I reset (soft reset, warm reset, hard reset) I just can't get past the digitizer screen. Just in case I haven't made it clear it's the screen which says "Tap the centre of the target" in 6 languages with a picture of the TX and little crosses inside red concentric circles. I'm assuming it's a hardware fault, but I don't understand why now. The only reason I needed to do a hard reset was because I stupidly put one too many applications on the device and there wasn't enough free space. Couldn't get to the launcher screen to delete hence the hard reset. This problem appeared after that.

Did you have any digi drift before the reset? If you can remember where the drift was (if any) there is a way to get past that screen.

No, was working fine until then. Incidentally why was your Z22 a beast?

My Z22 was just a beast there is no other way to say it. The battery would last 8+ hours, it would never reset (it took 3 months before I had to reset it) I dropped it a few to many times (on hard surfaces) and it never even flinched. It was the toughest and most reliable electronic I have ever owned.

In your directions you told him to "reset", but neglected to mention what kind of reset...

any kind in fact. warm, soft, or debug

What is a "debug" reset? I've never heard of it.

either down or cradle hotsync button (depending on device) pressed while resetting. results in device not booting, but waiting for serial debugger to attach.

dmitrygr - followed your instructions (spent 10 minutes tapping on the crosshairs, then reset) a couple of times now but the same screen keeps coming back.

tried warm reset?
two warm resets later (after carefully reading the instructions again in the Palm knowledge base), a restore from my card and I appear to be back in business. And I was beginning to despair and consider getting a new one. Thanks for being persistent at getting me to do what worked.

What did you do that worked? (Step by step, in your own words... So that more people might understand if they need this...)
