Clie is froze. Hard reset won't wake it up.

Today I returned from an out of the office meeting and I noticed the Clie's screen had a warning message...something to the effect of "fatal error...Reset" I reset it a couple of times after having the message return, and now it appears I am in a state of no return.

I purchased the Clie 12 months and 2 weeks ago, and I am wondering what my best course of action might be?

Help!!! I use this tool a significant amount daily.

From the thread's title, you said hard reset wont work. You sure you did a hard one? coz a hard reset will wipe out all data in the RAM.

Had it happen once. I let the battery run down for a few days, then charged and hard reset. If that doesn't do it, get a bigger hammer.

I had the same experience and did the same thing as mnabrams. After hard reset, just DON'T RESTORE the back up. I installed the applications again and synchronized the data only. Now it is working fine ........ so far so good ............. touch wood!

A hard reset should do it. I use "crash" on my NR70 to prevent the state of <fatal error> to go on unnoticed.

To hard reset:
1. Turn on your Clie.
2. Press and hold the power button.
3. Poke the hole in the back.
4. Wait the display to fade out.
5. Release the power button pressing.
6. A Question popup on screen saying: "Erase all data? Press Up for Yes, Press other button for No"
7. Press Up button to hard reset or press any other hard button to soft reset.

After a hard reset, place it on the cradle and do HotSync to restore your RAM back from PC backup files.

Integration man says: I went to the extent of removing 8 eyeglass screws and finding the battery, diconnecting the modular plug, letting it sit for a couple of hours, then plugging it back in. No Luck! tried another reset...no luck.

Called Sony Tech support for assistance. No advice given brought success.

Gave up on my 12.5 month old Clie, drove to Comp USA and bought an HP iPAC Pocket PC with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

I'm smilin' now! :-)

Sorry your bought a new one. Disconnectiing the battery does not let the battery run down. leave it for a few days. Hard reset - should work. Maybe a good gift for a family member after you get it working. Good Luck!
