Well, I did it....I upgraded. I haven't even owned the TG50 for a month and already I upgraded....I returned it and bought a NX70....NICE MACHINE!
I mean, sure, it has the potential for a broken hinge, but it has an inline remote for playing MP3s, something I'm going to do a lot with my Clie since it is replacing a broken MP3 player. It also has a camera, an option for Wi-Fi and a bigger screen. I haven't had a chance to fire it up yet but I think I'll be very happy with it.
Good bye TG50 crowd, you've all be wonderful and very helpful...I promise to stop by on my way to the NX forums every so now and then :D

I made the same switch, and haven't looked back. I love my new NX70V, and I even got the WiFi card when Best Buy had it heavily discounted with the rebate. I use it with WinHand to control my desktop PC, and run my PC applications. The bigger screen is awesome for viewing pictures, reading eBooks, and also watching movies. I'd suggest if you can afford it get EruWare's CF driver and a 1GB CF card.

Well, you have to do what you have to do. The TG50 is definately a niche device. Mid-price...middle of the line...does a lot well, but not everything a PDA COULD do. But, therein lies a specific beauty to the TG. It is a middle-class citizen in the Clie world, dressed as a GOD. Perhaps it is also an icon of everday man (or woman). TG50 has the potential to be all that an NX or NZ already is, but SONY gave it something the others will never have...class and style beyond what it deserves. TG50 is functional poetry for all of us who are climbing the Clie ladder!

Very eloquent and my opinion very true. I use an nx now, but perhaps in another place and time, especially if I owned more BT gadgets. It be tough give yp the VG though.

Since I have a T68i, bluetooth is a serious need. So the NX was out of the question. Form factor too was a serious consideration, the camera is cool, but more of a toy than a tool. Gotta love the HiRes+ and the CF Compatibility.
PErhaps if you want a Bluetooth enabled N series, should be coming out within the next month or two. The bluetooth memory stick costs a bomb here in MAlaysia, and is totally not worth it.
Sony needs to compete with the Tungsten C. At least that what my friend in Sony said.

The camera is a toy to some, possibly to most. But I've taken pics at times and in places when opportunity struck either with my kids, friends or at work(where digital cams are not allowed) and my handy dandy ditgital cam was not around and possibly would have been overkill for some situations. I started with a newton so the nx is not a prob for me as far as size. It fits comfortably in front pants pocket. I'm don't wear skin tights and I am a bodybuilder so size is a consideration for me. Though if I had the t68i bluetooth would definitely make the tg or hopefully the next nx a viable candidate for me. But your right, I'm quickly remided by the vg, wifi and of course, the cf storage hoe fortuanate I am to own the nx.

Yep. I have a TG now and had an NX before. I want the best of both worlds. I'm hoping the next NX is slightly smaller with bluetooth along with the other specs rumored: 300-400 megahertz, 64 ram, 1 megapixel camera, etc.

First off...I have good pants with big pockets..so the size isn't really a problem.
As for bluetooth. Sure it's a great technology, but I think in the long run I would be more likely to fork over the $100 odd for a Wifi card so I can tap into my homes already existing wireless network and the numerous hotspots around the world as opposed to forking over the $300(CDN) for a T68i and another $100 for a half decent bluetooth dongle. For me (and I know this isn't true for others) Wifi makes more sense.
I do like the styling of the TG50 much better, it's got a nice minimalist look to it, and, being left handed, there are a lot of things that I use on the TG50 that one can't really access on the NX (Hardware buttons for one thing) as easy. I'm sure that in the long run I'm more likely to break the hinge, but with my current track record, I'll probably be upgrading this time again next year (must be something in the air).
The camera is nice, and though I initially thought it would only be a toy, after talking to some other people I've come to realize that it would have some real-world uses. Mostly just because 90% of the world doesn't feel the need to carry a camera with them everywhere they go and therefore miss out on quite a few opportunities.
I miss a lot of the stylings on the TG50...like the way it had that nice affirmative snap to it when you closed the lid, and the gorgeous brushed aluminum on the snap cover. But in the end the advantages of the NX won me over....though I do find myself staring off into space, thinking of better times with me and my TG in hand, ready to take on the world.
Goodbye TG, I'll miss you :(

No doubt. I'll be selling this one and upgrading as long there's an active cf slot that is. :)

Heck, as long as my beautiful TG50 does what I need it to do, I'm keeping it. No need in always trying to one up yourself unless you just like to know you COULD surf the internet from underwater and launch missles to Saturn. ;)

I agree with you. If you don't want, don't get it. For there are others whom would deem the tg50 as a "one upper" or an unneccesary gaget. The tg50 does alot of neat tricks that some would beleive not very useful. In my opinion, the tg50 is still on the high end, but hey, "different strokes", right? :)
