Hello 1src users,

I have been working these 2 days on a new skin.

Everything started cuz i wanted to free up some space on the cache (unCache list) and the first apps to leave were PalmRevolt and SkinUI. With those gone, i decided to go back to the standard DIA that my TX comes with, still with MySkin funcitionality. Changed the system colors and tried it out for a while, like if it was brand new, just all gray. Nope, no. I just cant leave my eyes to that "jaggyness". I searched for DIA skins that were gray and fit my desires. But once again, no one had ported a Mac theme, or at least not published it.

All this led me to one last resort: to use my skills and do it myself. I ended up creating a PalmRevolt skin and porting it to SkinUI, putting them back on the cache list ... (...) .

This is the result. I got the permission to release the port but still need to polish some things. DIA is ok, but PalmRevolt is buggy and the imported skin from SkinUI doesnt fit well. But they both complement each other just perfectly (the same happend with the Tiger skins).

So if i cant come forward with this, i will leave it like that. Im planning of doing a LA skin (very simple) and maybe *maybe* +cough+ an IconPlus pack to have another full Mac package. I dont think i will port fonts, but i will release the package soon, next week or so.

I was also planning to ask for some donnations (still very vague since im not a money lover). I still need to think about this, cuz my last package was a hit on Palmgear (was on the top50 after 2 weeks) and could have received some money from that... Not that i am asking money for the art, but for the work of porting the themes and putting them all together. What you think about it guys?

Any comments, please...

The discussions I've seen about seeking voluntary donations all say that very few ever come. If you are interested in being paid, you probably would be better off actually charging for your work, even if you make the fee small.

Well, you could always post a Paypal donation link, with a suggested donation of $2. The only reason voluntary donations don't work is that a culture of trialware has been created, and people don't even think about donating anymore. If you aren't really big on making money, you could do this as a service to the community -- to help bring back the spirit of donations :)

Of course, if you end up getting virtually no donations, you could always start charging for it in the future :)

well, then not. I guess im to lazy to create a paypal account just to get almost... nothing.

hmmm camino is opera mini 3, safari is netfront and Web is Web :). I like to mimic almost everything from Mac OS. I can change the apps' database name with ChangeMe.prc

here is what ive been working on:

PalmRevolt skin looks a bit better now, i changed the buttoms, not as dmytry suggested, but as the theme is. i include 2 screenshots of variantions of the skin, one black and one white. The original is supposed to be black, but i personally dont like it and besides that, it looks really weird on some apps, like prefs. and such... Havent tired it with SkinUI though.

LA skin is annoying, but at least ive managed to work with the transparency in the whole skin. i am thinking about porting the icons and do a package for iconsplus to have a better look. But im still thinking about it -to much work for now-
