This morning I tried to get a song into the memory stick in my Clie, using MS Import & Sonic Stage, but a message came out saying that the information was not recognizable or that there was a copyright protection in the data. Am I doing this correctly?

You probably used VBR or a lesser bitrate than 96kHz.
Check that, I don't think it was copyrighted.

Are you trying to create MP3's? If trying to use ATRAC3, then you need the white Magic Gate memory stick and use the checkin and checkout procedures.

If your just doing MP3, there are much better 3rd party MP3 ripper apps out there to do the job, some of it's free. Sonic Stage can be a real bear to use and is not recommended.

I was never able to do it, only play them and watch the Visualizer. I only remember some commenting that they can, but I never could or even know if it's possible :).

I use Music Match or WMP with the MP3 Power Encoder plug-in.

Oky, the same as me. I use Lame and ExactAudioCopy. But this WMA-Plug In seems to be nice. Thanx

One word: CDex ( http://cdex.sourceforge.net )

SonicStage can't record anything other than ATRAC3 format... it can play back MP3 but has no recording codec.... an as n2ifp stated you need the SDMI compliant MagicGate White MSticks to run this file type.....

.... use the cdex shown above to create MP3's and move them to the audio directory on your MS using MSImport

Use a program like Cdex or DbPowerAmp. Copy the cd into an MP3 file (like recording the CD for playing on your computer, you are just recording it in a different format).

use MS Export (or the transfer area in Audio Player) the recorded tracks into the MSAudio folder on the MS.
