Is there any way to install the Palm desktop onto Umbuntu OS?

You may be able to do it using Wine, but I"ve not read anything on it. I'd think that it doesn't work.

Look up jPilot. Works well in Ubuntu.

For what it's worth, I've tried several times to get the Palm Desktop install onto KDE using CrossOver (WINE) but I've never gotten it to work. It looks at first like it's going to install, but then craps out at the end... I mainly wanted it so that I could get a palm software that was only available in an executable and required Palm Desktop be installed.

As Headcronie said jPilot should work. I personally have ditched hotsyncing all together and just use CardReader to transfer files back and forth along with a good backup app for restorations (Resco and NVBackup are the best IMHO)

I'm using the same setup dmitry sugested. It's not the most elegant solution but it works :)

personally i love vmware. ever since i started work there, i learned more about the app, and love it more and more. I'd recommend reading the manual. The app has so many possibilities that you do not see upfront!

But why not just use Jpilot, or kpilot? The sync library has been ported for linux..

Yeah, but it wont support most 3rd party conduits.

Edit: I mean that most 3rd party conduits have not been ported to Linux in general.
