Do you have any problems with PalmOS memory design and FAT based external cards?
If you could create your own storage system what would it be like?
I don't have an answer to your question, but how is the launcher coming?:)

I am not sure if this is the answer you were looking for, but I remember MS pro had problems pertaining to this - they would not work on OS5 devices because of it. However, Sony released drivers which fixed the problem.
Maybe you mean, you are not using the drivers and have FAT filesystem memory though? not quite sure what you mean from your post, maybe you could clarify (maybe I'm an idiot too though)

You can check my thread in the developer section. (:
I ask this question because I am working on a system to ease program/file access. So far the design looks good, however I wanted to know what users like/dislike from the current PalmOS memory design and its connection to the card VFS.
it would be very helpfull if you post your thoughts. (:

I am just a UI programmer (okay 3D space, but it is still a form of User Interface and that was my start)... but my quest is always speed and efficiency and forward thinking. With most users, when it comes to fooling with a memory stick or other media, suddenly they are back from dealing with icons and easy user interfaces to dealing with file structures (FAT). Thus many people use the stick only for data storage, backups, multi-media rather than as "interactive storage" like the memory of the Palm/Sony itself.
One reason why your launcher has been so popular here is that it brought the palm programs that run off memory stick onto the "desktop" a very handy and preferred function.
Tabs are easy for most to use, but get cumbersome on the larger storage, so I am not sure I have a real answer for you. Other than to say, it needs to be simple to use, faster (pre-cache using unused memory), and not take up more space than is necessary so that the storage can actually be used efficiently....
just my 2 cents worth.... if I had my way it would be fully interactive 3D environment, but then I have been out of the UI world and in the VR world for a decade now. :)
