I can't seem to locate the "Read1st.htm" file mentioned & would like to, being that I have vers. 5.43 & just registered - and once I get my code I'd like to upgrade 5.44!

Thanks for the heads up. I had to download the full zip file to get the 5.44 version. Seems the PRC link hasn't been updated. ;)

wellsjs! nice to see you around :)
as for ZLauncer, i havent tried it yet because of the memory thing. I like the fact that it can be customized a lot (and have it simple as i like) but still it grabs to much mem from my TX ... is there going to be a "lite" version of this in a future (if its a good idea)?

I 2nd the request for a "Lite" version of ZLauncher. It's a bear of an application. I still use and love iSpin, but I keep toying around with the idea of ZLauncher mainly because of the transparency effect. Every time I get up the nerve to try it out, I remember why I've never made the switch before... It way too complicated - I don't have an entire day to devote to setting up the launcher on my Palm. ;)

I agree with PCQ... the app is just too feature crammed. It is overboard.
i like using Scrbtn because, though it takes a while to set up, it is way easier to use than zLauncher... It may not look as good, but is usable, how a launcher should be. :(
LaunchAnywere, onthe other hand is a nice app :)

It doesn't take an entire day, it only takes 5 hours :p But you can't beat this

yeah, maybe not in looks, but how about in simplicity? I don't need 40 million buttons on my launcher:

BTW, i am a leeching :)

and i like pizza better than lasagna :D
if i were to use ZLauncher i would probably start doing some skins for it, but since i dont, i dont
*i guess pizza is less complicated than lasagna - if you get my point ;) -

I really don't understand the purpose of these alternate launcher applications. The default application manager (on my phone atleast) does all the essentials. all the applications are represented by icons and the icons are sorted by categories. All the other application launchers seem to work in the same way.

Have you ever used an alternate launcher? There is so many more things that one can do with an alternate launcher that the default one simply cannot do.
You are correct: the default launcher has all the "essentials." But a third-party launcher makes this easier and more fun. Plus, with an alternate launcher, you can customize it to your needs and desires.

misterdanny,
You apparently haven't given them a try. ZL, for instance, has a built-in file manager (something sorely missing from your basic Palm OS install), QuickLaunch+ which puts frequently used apps and extensions at your instant access fingertips, easy moving of apps to run from card (yes there are separate apps that can do this, but integrated into a launcher that does so much is nice), not to mention the eye candy (colors and themes) which makes using your PDA more fun. I guess some people would be perfectly happy driving a car with nothing but bare metal, but I like a nice paint job on mine. Come to think of it, wouldn't it be great to be able to change the "theme" (color) of your car periodically like we can our launcher themes? :D

Why can't they add one simple Press>Hold feature to QuickLaunch Anywhere so that I don't have to solely dedicate one of my hard keys to that feature?

Have you tired LaunchAnywhere for those who wants a simpler Launcher?

Thanks for the idea, KenSong. However, I don't want to pay additional money for one simple feature that should have been included with ZLauncher in the first place.

Well . . . have you emailed ZZtechs and asked them about this feature?

Yeah, about a year ago. I should probably put in another request, though.

Hi Kenny,
I use both as it happens (ZL and LA). They work together very well!

Sometimes you have to. When you own a TH55 for example, and you want to use it in landscape mode. The built-in launcher doesn't do landscape.

That will most probably become a reality in the (near) future!

Question - can I move the ZL Manager portion (it's a seperate icon/program showing for me) Can I move this portion to the card? (and move it back if I actually need to uninstall?)

Its like you order ice-cream but all You get is a plain bowl of vanilla sure you maybe perfectly content with your bowl of plain vanilla ice cream but some people want sprinkles and smarties and m&ms and broken Oreo cookies and one of those chocolate wafer sticks.......Catch my drift.
I love zlauncher, I think it's the best launcher ever! The reason I don't use it is it takes up WAY to much space with its icon sets and themes and the 2 other prc's it uses If there was a way to run ALL of that on a MS, then well it would be perfect, but nothings perfect, (except windows vista and those chocolate wafer sticks I was talking about earlier)

I'm not Mac user...:
I am a Win-d'ohs XP user who is deep in the proces of converting to Linux... All I need is an install disk for XP (HP PCs don't come with one, and I need one for QEmu >:()
Vista's UAC is a joke, and that is why we all must laugh at it.
At any rate, I am a bad person! I should learn not to thread jack!
(A feeble attempt to get on topic): The only thing I don't like about Alternate Launchers is that they take up a TON of memory: zLauncher with a couple of skins etc: 5M; scrBtn, 1M. If they made a small (300k), but awesome launcher, I'd be willing to pay huge monies for that.

Well I use facer which is okay the Icons still look like crap and it can't really be customized at all but its much better looking than the default launcher, and it 400K so all in all it's all right for now. Try it maybe you'll like it. Sorry I just thought you used a Mac Because of your icon but now I get the joke, :p
