View Full Version : Where do we go now?

After feeling somewhat dissapointed of Palm's new gadget entry -read Fooleo- and knowing for a fact that the great ol' PDAs of yore we all came to love are forever and ever reserved for the wild blue yonder, I'm left wondering where should we go now?

Treos are simply not an option for me. They're underpowered, short on memory, not quite capable in terms of connectivity -data over cell networks is a costly proposition in my part of the world- and their tiny screens (in terms of resolution) make them unsuitable for my particular needs.

Also, I refuse to play by the carrier rules all of which seem to think that they know better than me what I want and need on a portable computing device.

iPhone is yet to prove its worth and the fact that it will be tied to a carrier in order to function is causing me to puke. To clear my point -Can you imagine paying a monthly fee for using your TT3?

PPC, Windows portable or whatever is called now is not an option for me either. I recently decided to call it quits on Windows on the desktop side. XP will be (hopefully) the last MS upgrade I'll ever do in my entire life!

So what's left?

Retro-palming?

Shine some light on me folks!

You know, Newton communities still exist, no reason palm cannot follow that

I'd wait and see another year. Who knows what they got up their sleeve with Palm OS II... If it's all dissapointing, start looking around. :(

If Palm doesn't come through, my next device will be a Zaurus C1000 or something similar. My husband just got one (we picked it up off of eBay for $300) and it is very sweet! He keeps telling me of things he can do with it and I'm quite jealous.

It's a sad situation, they think they know what we want more than we do. I've never heard of such a thing! They always say the pda market is diminishing, I wonder why, maybe because they haven't come out with a new device in 1 1/2 years. This iPhone talk makes me sick, like they made some huge technological advance, the Palm community has been talking about a Treo+Wifi+big screen for years.

Seems we're heading the same way. Having such great developers such as you will certainly help to keep our palms amazing us for a few years more!

:D

Those Sharp devices certainly seem to be gathering rave reviews but as far as I know, they've already been discontinued, right?

...apparently Palm is deaf to our prayers.

I agree with you that the iPhone is not much of a tech-advancement but at least Apple is responding to our request for big-screen PDA with usable memory and power. Let's see how it fares.

Profitable companies always give the customers what they want-Apple is just a good example.
