A new rumoured device, sleeker looking treo, or photoshop hoax?
I want to see rumours the Tx follow-up with Linux. But I guess that's just wishful thinking....

It will come in two colors:
Gandalf the Grey and Gandalf the White. I'll wait for the next generation model, Saruman of Many Colours. :D:p;)

LOL that is great. Now for the device itself...hmm, no lol it just looks horrible, too much button real estate, makes the screen look tiny.

I'm sure Radagast the Brown would run Windows Mobile. ;)
It is a tiny treo, the screen is just a bit bigger than an SE phone. But I guess with it you'll need that Foleo more than ever.
A little bird told me it definitely isn't a hoax.

and there's the rub..it could be real..
I think this is just about life size. Smaller than the current gen and thinner probably.

i dont like it.
Neither do I but I think it is for all the people who are used to small Moto and SE phones.

I don't buy it... Looks too "photoshoppy" to me.
I mean, the middle band looks almost exactly like the Lifedrive, and a thinner 5-way nav area than the Z22.
It generally looks like a step backward from the latest Treo.

no uglier than the tmobile DASH thing... at least palm is attempting different form factored treo type phones to appeal to more audiences...

Did any of you notice the date 1/23/06. Seems like a long time to have a prototype and no device on the market.

i did a google on Palm Gandolf, and yes i found it on dates that were from last year. leads me to think this has been one product rumored from a long time ago. Some said actually that Palm Gandolf was the codename for the treo 755p.
I think this is a fake really. or an old old design that didnt make it through.

I don't really think its ugly. But if it is anything like the Z22 in terms of price and functionality, I think it might as well be a home run for palm in the smartphone market.
I wasn't sure with the first pics, but in the new pics it sure looks real. I had to get used to the design a bit, but I kind of like it. Especially the LD type 5-way navigator. I always found it a shame that the Tx doesn't have it because it is so much easier to operate...
If it really comes for less then $200 that might be a really good thing for Palm.
Somehow I'm thinking we're going to see some cool new stuff from Palm in the coming months, otherwise this investment company wouldn't have put so much money in it. They only do that when they see they have some good stuff lined up. This might just be the start, I'm curious...

Nice to see a new design. My first reaction was: "how HTC like...", but it was just a feeling, I don't know why I felt it.
Yet, seems like to that it's not going to have a touch screen, in that case, it's more meant to compete with Blackberries and the Moto Q, not so much for us forum reading power users.
By the way, did anyone notice that the WM version screen looks rectangle, like the 320*240 screen on the Q; while the Palm version still has a square screen?
