Help. A friend of mine somehow cracked the glass on his T-665. Sony wants $150 to replace the glass. Are there any alternatives to this madness?

Thanks

Yes... buy a new one. I have seen the T665's for $200 and some open box SJ33's for $239. Also, there is a website that may help:

http://www.pdaspecialists.com/ccp5/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi

http://www.gethightech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?

I hope this helps,
Robert

If you can bid and win an auction on ebay for non working 615s or 415 clies with intact screens, 45-60.00, you can replace the digitizer that way. Mind you, removing the digitizer without cracking it is not very easy, and if you do, you just washed your money down the drain.

It's much easier to replace the glass and the digitizer together. That way you don't need to separate anything and risk cracking the screen or getting dirt behind the screen. I assume the connector would be the same, but you never know.

If you look at http://www.palmpilotupgrade.com/prices.html, you will see that they will do this for your PDA for $ 69. That's a whole lot cheaper than buying a new one.
