I am looking to get into a little programing for the Palm OS. I know absolutely nothing about programing at all, I am completely oblivious to everything. I was wondering if any of you had suggestions on where to start/good resources/what I need. It all seems a bit overwhelming right now and I'm looking for some advice.
Thanks

Hi,
A very easy way to create Palm applications is IziBasic (www.aldweb.com).
It's a very easy, basic-like language.
With the demo you can already create little console and GUI applications, and the manual is very easy to understand. The best thing is that you can do all the stuff onboard.
And with the full version some additional freeware tools, you can create really good apps:
BIRD - Ressource Editor -> http://www.ppcompiler.org/
Piaf - An Editor, so you can easy code apps -> http://www.ppcompiler.org/
TbmpEdit - Edit Tbmp, tAIB, abmp, and import/export jpg and bmp - with cool effects (smooth, 3d, gradients) http://tbmpedit.sourceforge.net/

IziBASIC stinks: www.onboardc.sf.net! Good ole onBoardC creates standalone application s in C!
DL the latest srcEdit beta (it may be beta, but it is really stable) at: srcedit.brainsware.org
Read (and pluck) the docs at www.access-company.com/developers/documents/palmos/palmos.html
And you are good to go!

I wouldn't start with OnBoardC, especially if you have no previous programming experience. You can start with HB++, iziBasic as Deoni mentioned, or SmallBasic; Any of the BASIC's. But, as Phreakonaleash mentioned, these are only good for making really simple apps like calculators and things (except for HB++, you can do a lot with that). You should have a couple months experience behind you before you start with C. Personally I found PalmPascal a good thing to learn before C also.

I was referring to PP being a good language to program with, and the BASICS being not-so-useful.

But when did I mention that? and SB is useful, just not too powerful

yeah, Brent has no knowledge about Palm Programming, so he with some easy language to get started. Of course basic is not powerfull, but its easy to get 'basic' knowledge about programming, as well as PP :)
