Hi, I just got my Palm TX yesterday as a graduation present and this is my first Palm device, so I'm very new to the scene. I basically want to know what gameboy color and SNES emulators are most compatable with the TX and what I need in order to run them. I tried one called Little John Z, but it wouldn't let me run it; saying it needs a Tapwave running PalmOS 5 (I'm guessing I installed something for a different device, any information on how to uninstall it would be nice :) )
Also, what are the must-have applications for the TX?
Any help is appreciated.

For little john palm, have a look here: http://little-john.net/ . Just make sure you read the forum first as it can be tricky. You won't be able to run snes games straight away without buying UDMH (it increases the heap memory of your device).
Other cool applications:
TCPMP (here (http://picard.exceed.hu/tcpmp/test)) - A fully featured Media Player, and it's free :)
SCUMMVM (here (http://capers.free.fr/en/home.php)) - Allows you to play a good number of old games on your palm. Free as well.
PalmPDF (here (http://www.metaviewsoft.de/en/Software/PalmOS/Freeware/PalmPDF/index.html)) - You can read PDF files on your palm. Free also.
HandyShpr (here (http://www.ggaub.com/hs/)) - Shopping List application.
Pilot-DB (here (http://pilot-db.sourceforge.net/)) Freeware DB app.
Have a look at http://www.freewarepalm.com/ and http://www.freeware-palm.com/ for other apps as well.
Do you have any specific requirements? What's your degree? There might be some apps you can use.
Welcome onboard :)

As for uninstalling, on the default app launcher, tap the menu button or the time and select delete. Find the one you want to zap and hit delete. Easy as that.
My own list:
(incomplete as my T|X is sleepy and his charger is at home)
SmallBASIC (smallbasic.sf.net): Good for wanking up small tasks (i use it as a graphing calculator, etc)
Plucker (plkr.org): LONG AND FAR the best document reader. :D (I am a fan) You can get books enywhere off the net (use plucker desktop to get and convert them) or you can downloadpre-packaged ones at memoware.com and pluckerbooks.com
Universe3 (wapuniverse.com): While not 100% complete, this is definitely a worthy replacement to the default browser
MyKbd (zlthemes.com): A wonderful, wonderful, keyboard replacment/skinner/macro tool. IMHO, this is a must have if you have a T|X.
UnCache, UDMH, PowerDIGI (palmpowerups.com): Many people complain about Dmitry's service and such, but his apps are good. UnCache will keep your device running smoothly by helping clean up the DBCache (a gateway between the Dynamic memory and the Stoarge memory. This gets clogged throgh regular use, and the device slows noticably when this happens) It will also solve some stupid error in Blazer web browser when you attempt to download a file and it says you cant  UDMH is the unlimited dynamic memory hack. It lets you run alot of 'hog apps' such as PalmPDF (UDMH allows the app to view in color), LJP, and ZDoomZ (www.yoyofr.free.fr, a wonderful Doom player (You'll need to dig up that old WAD file that you have sitting on your desktop. Cause I know we ALL have it ;) I do!)) and PowerDIGI is a wonderful screen calibrator that will make your device calibrate better (the T|X has a problem in that the default calibrator doesn't work well with the onscreen keyboard)
Lets see...
ScrBtn (link in a sec) is a great application launcher. It takes some setting up but with a bit of inginuity, it is absolutely wonderful.
pocketTunes (pocket-tunes.com): a skinnable, fun, easy to use music player. It can sync with Windoze Media Player 10-11 and plays DRM protected music (like off of the legal Napster, and other music stores.)
OnBoardC (onboardc.sf.net): A nifty little C compiler. It will produce completely normal prc programs right on you rPalm with no need for a runtime like Java, NSBASIC, CASL or anything like those.
RescoExplorer (resco.net): Anyone who actually wants control over their Palm needs this app. It is a wonderful file manager, similar in style to Windoze Exploiter and can do many things other file managers can't
RescoBackup (resco.net): What happens wen you are on the road and you are forced to hard reset your device? (This is akin to formatting your computer. Do it by holding the power button and pressing the reset hole.) You need to restore it of course! This app allows you to create multiple backup sets (for example, every 6 hours my DOCS get backed up and every 24 I get a full backup). If you are cheap: NVBackup by Alex Pruss (handypalmstuff.sf.net) (Who also did myKBD and countless other wonderful apps). Not as featureful, but it is a great app and free. It also does it's backups in a safer way, I understand. (Get RB and NVB, it can't hurt!)
That's all the pluggin g I am going to do :)

For running GameBoy color and SNES you will need the LJP, as alt236 mentioned before.
Also, you have that UnCache, UDMH, and WarpSpeed will make you play games better, here is why:
UnCache will give your TX a better cache fragmentation (less fragments i guess) after a reset. This will allow you to load apps faster.
UDMH will give your TX more memory to run certain apps "smoother". LJP is one of those that NEED to have more memory than the TX alone offers (at least to play SNES, Gameboy will not necessarily need it).
WarpSpeed is to overclock the speed of your TXs CPU. This is a must if you want to run your SNES very smooth :) just like a real portable SNES console.
My personal settings for LJP and the above apps mentioned:
LJP SNES general config:
-Imput: Up/down/left/right = 5wayNav ; a = HB2 ; b = HB3 ; x = HB1 ; y = HB4 ; L = lowleft screentap ; R = 5wayNav center ; Start = Topright creenTap ; Select = Topleft screentap ; quick save = Power . Others = NONE
*HB is Hard button counting from left to right (home to blazer)
-Video: Smoothing = Medium ; Displaysize = x1.25 ; Frame Skip = 4 to 7 (depending on the ROM. Say Mario Kart has 6, earthbound has 4) ; Fast Stripes = no ; Transparency = yes ; Render = Exact
-Audio: Vol = 25 ; Sound = On ; Freq = 44khz
-Other: *The first and the lastone cheked* (sry i dont remember well but i do remember which, cuz ive palyed with configurations a lot hihihi)
and for GB i dont remember.
Get the least possible apps in the UnCache list, in UDMH LJP with ~16000 of memory and in Warpspeed LJP @ 546mhz. With this configuration you will be able to run even SuperPunchOut very smoothly on your TX :)
But by the way, i do recomend to get other USEFUL apps onto your TX, since you are student, you will see that the TX will be a good tool for your studies, not only a gaming device :D
Good luck with your palm and welcome to 1src!

Hi everyone,
Being NEW to the PALM world also, I have some questions about using the PALM.
1. How can I set up folders on my card for certain progs that request it? My PALM is an TX.
2. Some applications (games) (http://www.freeware-palm.com/get-hardball-v4-53.html) did not have an extensions, just numbers, How would one install these games or applications?
Thank you,
Craig

Format SD card in the TX and all folders you need, except Audio, will be created. Use a cardreader to create the Audio folder and manage your music.
I have heard reports that freeware-palm may not be a safe site. Try freewarepalm.com instead (make sure popup blocker is active). Unzip downloads, read any readme, and doubleclick .prc file to send to QuickInstall. Then sync. If you want to install to SD card, drag to lower window in QuickInstall.
Enjoy your TX.

The page your link sent me to has a Download button about 2/3 of the way down. When you click that, you get your zip archive to download.

megalauncher can be easier than zlauncher for a newbe. It is very easy or of course filez is the classic.
