Hi all, just bought myself a UX50 and have been enjoying myself for the last few days getting all set up. Been reading threads on here and have taken advice and set up Mundu for Instant Messaging and have successfully got myself set up using my WEP network at home. My first two issues have arisen though.
First off I have attempted to link my UX50 up with my Sony Ericcson k800i in order to use my GPRS allowance to browse the internet away from my available wifi link. The set up seems to gear everything towards using my mobile as a 56K dial-up modem and is asking for a number to dial, which will be very costly. Can anyone clarify the situation for me as I was under the impression I would be able to use my GPRS function to browse.
Secondly, one of the reasons I decided to invest was the idea of being able to manage many of my online activities while on the move. I currently do this using my VAIO but there are occasions where I won't have this with me. I attempted to access ebay last night and encountered an error whereby the page is too large to load, rendering it unusable. My version of Netfront is 3.0 - will upgrading to 3.1 solve this? If so how do I do this? I haven't installed any of the PC stuff yet as I plan to wipe my VAIO clean during the next few days (I made the mistake of installing the proprietry BT Broadband software, which is horrible and won't uninstall cleanly). I tried increasing the size of the cache but it would appear that that's only for downloaded content and not like RAM.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
-Ally

1. you need a dial-up number that usually looks like this: *99***1# The 1 before the # is for the CID on your phone (it is 1 if you have only one data account, can be 2 if the 2nd account is for internet data access; some carriers separate WAP and internet access) User name/pw you should have. What could still give you problems is the init string under Prefs/Connection/Details. For my T39m it is X1E0+CMEE=1;+CSCS="GSM";+CNMI=3,1,2,0,0;V1 This is different from the original Sony BT to GSM init script: X1E0+CMEE=1;+CSCS="GSM";v1;+CGSMS=3;+CNMI=3,1,2,0,0 To find the k800i do a google. If all else fails, check this: http://www.handango.com/ampp/store/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=308&sectionId=0&catalog=0&productType=2&platformId=1&productId=171530
2. Page too large: I usually press OK to that and the page still loads fine without any problems -- though slows the unit down quite a bit. (I use 3.1)

i dont know about the phone stuff but if you get a page too large error and it doesn't load you can go into the options and delete cache and then reload the page and that should help

Thank you very much, I'll get to work on the Bluetooth setup and I'll try that with the large pages. Is there a practical way to upgrade my version of Netfront to 3.1 without going down the Hotsync or PC link route as I don't intend to set any of that up just yet.
