Bit of a novice in this area. I'm using the Ambicom CF modem and driver on my NX70.
I use Compuserve dial up. I have successfully connected - but when I open either NetFront or WebPro (e.g., to open cnn.com) I get errors.
NetFront - time out error
WebPro - host error
All I want to do is surf some web pages.
Any ideas? (and big thanks!!)

In my case here in Brazil, I have to put Primary and Secondary DNS servers to make it work. Check with Compuserve to see if it is required; or you can check the connection in your PC and see if it has DNS servers that you need to configurate.

Silly question, but how do I check my computer to check if DNS is required (and what the setting is)? (i am travelling right now, and it is not easy for me to call compuserve to ask).
By the way, I assume it shows connected in the network preferences, and my phone showed in use. Is this a correct assumption?
And has anyone else successfully connected via a Compuserve dial-up?
Thanks!

In WinXP, you go into Control Panel > Network Connections. You should see the dial-up connection for Compuserve there; right-click and choose Properties. Choose Internet Protocol, click Properties. At the bottom you will see the DNS servers.
Im Win98, you will see the dial-up connection at the Dial-up and Network Connections. I think you get to that by clicking Start > Settings.

So what are the instructions for using Compuserve dial up and NetFront and WebPro?

Have you ever had this working?
It sounds like something is wrong with your settings. The time out errors are just that. Your browsers are NOT connected. Since I am NOT a Compuserve user, I don't know if any special considerations are needed. Remember too, that user names and passwords can be case sensistive. I hope this helps some ;)!
