Hi all,

It's been a while since I posted; life took me away for a while, and I wanted to spend some time playing around with the wonderful TH-55 I bought from DanT (many MANY thanks!) trying to figure things out myself.

Some questions I've not been able to answer - perhaps some of you would be willing to help?

1) How do I rename photos and sound files?

2) I use Netfront to websurf. Is there a convenient way to input text (for example for answering emails). Tapping the proper spot on the webpage and then going to the onscreen keyboard or Graffiti input area feels pretty awkward, especially if there are multiple fields on a webpage to fill in.

3) Are there any other applications like Netfront that I might try? Basically I like Netfront, but it's a little cumbersome to get used to.

4) What is Shark for?

5) For certain wifi networks, when trying to connect, I get a message re: "WEP Hex must begin with 0x" - something like that. (I should have written it down, but I think some of you might know what I'm talking about). What does this mean? I figured it might be asking for the password to the network. Sometimes, even if I input the correct password, I immediately get a frozen blue screen, and have to do a soft reset. Not sure what's going on here.

6) BIG QUESTION: I remember somewhere on these forums someone writing about being able to record video with the TH-55. How do you do this???!!!

7) This just now came up: opened up the camera lens and got this really weird green - then multicolored - static. Nothing worked; had to soft reset. Tried again and again...finally it seemed to go away, but not before several "Fatal exception" notices and soft resets. ??

I know this is a lot of questions to throw out there - sorry I've been saving them up. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, everyone.

I'll take the easy #1 question.
"1) How do I rename photos and sound files?"
Answer: If you have the file z program go to the file for the individual picture and check it, tap the details button on the screen and you will see the name which can be changed right there.

Of course there are other photofiling programs but the clie viewer is generally in alpha/numeric order and changing the name will change the order in which a picture is presented.

As for software, like the movie recorder (your question #6), you will find lots of useful stuff here: http://www.palmzone.net/pdaguide.php?rop=myhandheld&id=110.

Also check out: http://www.sonyclie.org/download.html

Have fun!

Re: Question #2
You should check out Graffiti Anywhere. A very useful app. Find it here:

Re: Question #3
Netfront is the best, so stick with it.

Re: Question #4
Which Shark app? There are several: http://www.ludustech.com/free/

Re: Question #5
You need to have the WEP key to access this wifi access point. Without the key, you are out of luck. Depending how the access point is set up, the number of characters in this WEP key will vary, but it is always long. :) This is different than the password you use to log into a website. With the WEP key you are logging in to the network access point. Once you have entered the key, you should be able to connect to this access point again in the future (you don't need to enter the WEP key everytime you come back) (unlike a webpage password that you often do have to re-enter). Note, there are, however, a lot of wifi access points that are open and do not require a WEP key. Like the restaurant I had lunch at today, which was good because the company was boring. :D

Re: Question #7
 Can't help with this one.

You're welcome :)

If you keep having the problem after a hard reset, please PM me and I'll see if the Camera Module is defective. If it is still under my warranty, then I'll replace it at no charge.
