270 GBP seems to be a reasonable price, really.
Unfortunately, the VZ90 is really BAD for high quality video.
You would be very limited in terms of definition and bitrate.
If you don't mind poor or very average quality, it's OK, you can make 320x240 pixels videos, that will be resized by the VZ to fill the screen (more or less) but will make it not so sharp, making subtitles reading incomfortable. And even in this condition, the rendering is quite poor, replacing most of the nice subtle tones variation by quite ugly uneven color zones.
Well, i am an artwork conservator, my eyes are trained, these artefacts are very annoying for me, but maybe you don't have good eyes or don't really care picture quality, color fidelity, detail rendering ...
As the Palm TX have a pityfull screen, i cannot recommend you any pda on Palm OS for this use.
But i believe that the best mobile video player is simply ... SONY PSP !!!
Beautifull screen, very good sound, with the latests firmwares, you can now encode videos to the full screen definition (480X272), have a good overall rendering quality.
Unfortunately ... this is not a PDA.

Hmm ... I don't think Sofmap sells overseas.
As a PDA, the VZ is very good, i use it a lot. However, I can see 5 main problems :
- It's heavy and thick
- The CPU is slow with some modern softs like Docstogo, and too slow for a good use of TCPMP
- This kind of power hungry softs will eat the battery faster
- More and more new softwares or simple updates are not compatible with Cliés / HHE CPU ased PDAs, like the lasts versions of Docstogo or Pocket tunes ...
- You will still have some remains of Japanese, nothing very bad, but you have to accept it and guess the meaning of some messages ...
Otherwise, Oled screen is WONDEFULL

no because it does not include a keyboard or a camera.

If that isn't a lot for you, go for it. :)
The VZ90 was great, but it just didn't have Bluetooth and I was worried about breaking it...

About the camera :
Nowadays, most of the clié's cameras are really crappy. The TH55 camera is not so valuable anymore, for example. NX80V' one is still acceptable.
So, about the VZ 90, it is finally better to join it to a cell phone that have a good camera, preferably a Sony one, memorystick based ... so you can take a snapshot with your 2 or more megapixels camera phone, with flash and autofocus, and then view and edit it on your VZ90.
For the keyboard :
Few PDAs have a keboard. It's maybe not so relevant knowing that you can use a VERY GOOD thumbboard software : Mini KBD from Animatorsoft. As an exemple, i prefer to use this virtual thumbboard on my screen than the UX50 real keyboard, because it's noiseless and so, it doesn't disturb my sleeping boyfriend at night ...
