What do you use handyshopper for?
I know the obvious answer, "for your shopping". But as a great freeware database program I was wondering if anyone had found any other uses for it?

Here is a suggestion for how I took the 'premade' one from the group files and did my own thing...
In "Stores" I made a separate hot and cold store for my husband and me (plus a travel bag for me with shampoo, toothpaste, etc) and under categories I made clothing, general (which includes things like Clie :), charger,sunglasses, etc) and toiletries. To use, I go into the 'climate' that I need and have the category set to all. Then check off all I want to pack. When doing the actual packing, I go to the appropriate 'store', and choose the category. I pack from category to category (starting in clothing, then when done there, move on to toiletries, etc). Another cool thing, it seems I use to leave some article of clothing where ever I went for vacation. But now I use the list to uncheck everything to make sure I repacked it. When I get back home, I do a checkout and the whole list is reset.

I'm an artist, and I sell my designs at Craft Fairs during the summer & fall. I've set up Handy Shopper to have checklists of all the supplies I need from different sources. For example, I have one "store" set up called "Paints" where I have all the colors listed so I can just check off the ones I need. Another store is "AC Moore" where I get unfinished wood supplies, adhesives, etc. I actually have 8 "stores" set up to keep track of my supplies. I've also set up a store called "Fair Checklist" where I can check off everything I need to bring to a fair - prevents me from leaving my eyeglasses and credit card slips home!

Besides the things mentioned here, I also use it to keep track of my State Quarters collection. I'm collecting each state for myself and each of my two sons, so I use the quantity list to count up to 3, then check it off when I have 3 of them. I also found a list that has the states sorted by when they come out and has year as the category. Great app.

I'm a woodworker (never guess that from the name huh?), and I've created a database for all by hardware drawers in the shop, and another for my lumber racks. I take an inventory from time to time and check the results whenever I'm at HomeDepot.
I also set up a parts-list database whenever I start a large project.
It's very helpful to get a $ total before I head to the lumberyard, keeps me on target for budget (more or less), and allows me to prepare my wife for the bills....
I'm going to setup an inventory of spare computer parts in this as well

To rldunn: there's also a small freeware app called "Quarter Crazy" that's great for keeping track of those state quarters.

I tried a few different freeware quarter trackers, but the HS list works better than the ones I tried, plus I already have HS so I don't have to take up more room with a single-use app. But I'm not a true collector, so I don't care about the D and P versions, and for those that do, the other apps might work out better. Thanks for the suggestion!!
I only use it for shopping, but I would like to use it as a task a manager as well, if I ever get my act together.

This sounds like something I'd like to try, but a search on Google hasn't turned up any links - could you provide some more information?
Thanks =)

You're welcome for 'AutoCare'. Glad to know someone besides me uses it.
And, no. Alas, there is no link between my nick and Smashing Pumpkins. Although now that I see it, I think it is pretty cool.:cool:

Aside from the obvious shopping lists, I have a db called "Packing". I use stores for the trip type, IE ski trip, business trip, camping etc. and the categories represent the location of the item. Fantastic time saver.

jamester - the actual name of the Quarter Crazy app is "Qtr Crazy" which explains why you couldn't find it. Here's a link to the app on freewarepalm:
