View Full Version : T415 ROM\Install Disc?

Ack. This is probably a terrible question to ask, so I won't specifically ask for links. I bought my T415 from eBay, but the seller lost the install disc. I had to make do with the Sony Palm Desktop I found on the internet and the copies of Remote Commander, World Alarm Clock etc provided at some Clie Yahoo groups, but after doing some JackSprat stuff to my PDA it seems to be really unstable (Every second Hotsync it crashes and I need to soft reset.. I've tried hard resetting, cleaning out the Flash in JackFlash, everything.). I understand that the T415 install disc provides a BIOS image or something similar to revert to? I'd love to be able put it back to how it came.. so is there any way I can get this image, or am I completely stuck? The Sony website seems useless. Is there a benevolent T415 owner out there that could send me their image, or a non-flash-player-wither use JackSprat to grab a backup Flash image for me?
Of course, it'd be wonderful if someone could point me to a place where I could find all the standard apps that come with it on that CD (So far I've had to look in #palmwarez and other such places to find Clie Paint etc) too, but I'm not gonna get too greedy just yet. :P
I have a T-415 and install disc. My friend lost his install disc as well so I made him a copy.
How do you suggest we get you a copy as well?

Ah, well, I wouldn't really need the disc. It'd be handy, but by probably being 200mb or so it's not exactly convenient to send over the internet... so what I was looking for was the ROM replacement that I'm guessing would be provided on the CD, and the application to initiate it. Is there any sort of "emergency" program provided on the disc to completely reset the T415 back to its original state? And is it too large by itself? Thanks :D

There is no such thing - Sony thinks you should not mess with their ROM so you are outta luck on anything being on the disk to help you out. You can DL a ROM image from Sony Developers web site (you have to register first) - I have done this so I can use the palm OS emulator....I am not familiar with JackFlash so I cannot help you on how to restore the ROM. The only thing I know of JackFlash (and others like you confirm it for me often) is dont MESS WITH IT :-)

I didn't find a way to get the T415 ROM transferred, but I did end up finding the original Jacksprat backup I made. If anyone finds themselves in my situation I'd be happy to help them out and send the ROM flash files in the Jacksprat format - but thanks to the others in the thread that explained a lot! :D
And while I brought up the idea of the install disc... does anyone know where I can find all the Clie apps that should have come with my Palm? :P I'm probably looking for Remote Commander and its definitions more than anything. Am I stuck with IRC channels and Yahoo Groups?

Hey,
I'm in the same predicament as you. If you have the JackFash restore files, I'd be much relieved. As this thread is pretty old, I'm sure you've found the original Sony extra apps, but if you haven't, I have the CD.
Thanks,
Phil

Never mind,
I found a ROM image that I had previously got off of the clie for use with POSE. Luckily, I got this image before I played with JackSprat. Installed JackSprat in POSE, using my old ROM image, made a backup, then copied it to my MS. Restored just fine. No more Fatal Exceptions! Woo-hoo!
