Can't mount memory stick to my nx70...any ideas?

Hi,

I'm sure someone has already postted this quesiton. But I couldn't find it.

I'm having a problem with mounting the Sony memory stick to my nx 70. The ms keep popping out from the slot. I tried soft reset but no luck.

Thanks in advance,
SK

I use to have the same problem with my old N760. Had to send back to Sony for fixing.

The memorysticks compartment are spring loaded so don't think it's a software problem.

Oh no . . . I'd heard about that being a NR line problem . . . this is the first I've heard about it in an NX. I've certainly had no issues with mine *crosses fingers*.

Maybe you should call Sony?

Is it mechanically popping out or does the software not recognize it properly?
If mechanical-> Sony guarantee
if software side -> dunno, make a backup and reinstall them from MS one by one..

Thanks for all of your comments.

What happen was that my NR had the problem, so I took the NR memory stick and try to use it on my nx. Wham...now the nx is jinx.

I never had the problem until now. So all beware if your friend had problem with the NR...Don't try to test it with your clie.

More suggestions are welcome.

Could it be just the Memory Stick itself that is the problem?

BTW - There is no software that I know of that can pop out your Memory Stick.

Hmm, premature ejects can be a serious condition. Have you talked to your doctor about it? :D

Yea, I don't think the memory stick ejection has a software controller.

I know, but maybe he meant that it pops out of the menu.
I had a pal he always popped out of the mass... maybe this is his brother or a relative.

I fixed my NR and reused the MS on the NX with no issues, but that doesn't preclude his memory stick from having been corrupted.

He still isn't clear as to whether it's popping out of the slot or dropping out in memory. Most had trouble with their NR about 3 weeks after purchase. I have had my NX almost 7 months now.

there was a thread about memory sticks acting like superman and flying out of their slots.

could it be that this one actually is superman?

Hi,

The problem is not ejecting the MS but can't mount and load the MS to the nx. The darn thing just keep ejecting.

Thanks,
SK

Did you reformat the stick? You may have other problems using a stick from an NR, only because the two operating systems are different and some apps may not run.

I didn't format the nr stick. but my nx stick used to work prior to loading the nr.

Thanks,

HAH! I was right. See. And the world turns around, though- we will all die! LOL
Well. If you had a card reader try backing up the MS and then reformatting. Like n2ifp said.
The NR had MS connection problems- but not the NX, for this prob is in an NX as well since a swap: This must be a defective MS or a corrupted table/ app on the MS -->reformat in an extra card(FAT format!!) reader or if you have the time, make scandisk, defrag on the MS in the reader and try to delete one by one..
Maby you should try n2ifp advice ESD (electro static discharge) before handling electronics- next time..

Continue...

Funny thing happen. I test a computer store MS and same thing happen. MS would not mount to NX...so I took my own MS and stick it back by force holding the MS and it was able to mounted. My joy only lasted a few hours. I eject the MS and attempted to remount again but this time it did work. Frustration time again.

I took my other MS from my Sony digital camera and it was able to mounted in my NX. Hmmmm...bad MS I think.

Here is a solution... just put some duct tape on there and walla no more popping memory stick.... :D just kidding of course.

I know what you mean. Simply the MS will not stay in the slot. My old N760 had the same problem. I think it is to do with the spring loaded slot, and maybe the catch. What caused my problem I think was ejecting the MS stick to often. Maybe that weakend the catch (or something like that). I now use MS import instead and have no problems on my NX. Funny mentioning the duct tape. I used tape to hold the MS in and it worked a treat!

Oh yes, some of my MS stayed in more readily than others. The worn ones (lots of scratches on the metal contacts) seem to pop out more easily.

Fliegende Kinderscheisse! My Lexar MS flew out of my NX70V at a high velocity the other day. I was hoping this was a freak occurance, but if others are reporting it it'll probably only get worse. I guess I'll have to con Sony into a replacement. Although, this could be a good deterant for the idiots that ask me to see the Clie while I'm diddling with it. All I need now is a laser pointer attached to aim for the eye...
