I am thinking about it. I am just worried about a newer model coming out soon. I know all about it, i have been playing around with the simulator (the one with no mac version) and like the clie stuff enough that i want one.
Am i foolish (not bout wanting one, bout buying one now)
Also, what is the typical release price of a new model NX series PDA - in AUD if possible (not converted though, that is innaccurate), otherwise USD will do. Thanx soooo much guys.

typical release price has been 600 bucks w/ a camera, 500 w/o I think....

Depends on what features you want and how much you want to spend. It's not foolish to buy now if the NX meets your needs and is in your price range. There's always going to be something new around the corner, so the problem with waiting is that you can do it forever.

Actually, for about [url=http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8620]$362 if the 10% discount (http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi? AGE=PROFRAME&PROD_ID=220332) is still in effect. I just received mine last week. Also, based on the serial #s, seems that everyone is getting new ones and not refurbs!

Don't buy one, this is only for special ones.. LOL

If you like it buy it- if not wait for easter being on christmas(german proverb)
There will be always better models. Depends on what you need

another aussie.....yahoo !!!!

listen mate, i would be very careful about buying a clie, no matter what type from overseas. i say this because:

1. Exchange rate
2. Shipping to Australia
3. Customs (big factor to consider)
4. Possible Palm OS conflicts (especially asian ones)
5. Time to get here
6. Warranty issues

Although prices overseas might seem too good to be true when you factor all of the above you will soon find that its easier/cheaper/safer to by one from here.

My friends know what type of person i am. If i can save a buck i will. However, i did all my homework and i came to the conclusion that it wasnt a good option to seek a unit from overseas new, or used !

I bought my NX70V for $1349.00 at Clive Peeters here in Melbourne. This is the standard sony price. However, i managed to squeeze a 128mb card off him as well.

In regards to buying a clie now or wait for the next model, let me tell you this much. Sony have a habit of releasing new models every six months or so. The thing to remember here is that you will never have the greatest clie for long. Your going to have to jump in at some stage. It will ultimately up to yourself when you think you should jump in.

Dont worry about buying a clie now (or in 3, 6, 9 months etc) and then finding out that theres a new model coming out. its the nature of the beast. just be happy with your purchase.

If your happy with a NX70V i would shop around and hassle dealers. They would know about the new models coming out. Pressure them into giving you a good deal.

I know Clive Peeters allegedly couldnt reduce the price of the nx as they claimed their hands were tied by Sony. Flash the cash under their nose (i actually had the cash and put it on the table) and tell them to sell you one for a good price or else the money will walk. If they dont reduce the price ask them for goodies such as memory sticks, stylus, cases etc

aussie_nx70v, i dont know if you know - but your on my buddy list, have been since i found you. Thankyou, you have been most helpful. Thankyou to every one else too. your advice is priceless.

Man, these forums are second to only one i know, my own brain :D.

You guys are wonderful - thanx.

PS. i have a NX70 from Overstock.com in my shopping cart - approx 850 inc. shipping if it come to that. hope it wont. I found that HT has them at the reduced price (1049) and they also give flybuys.

Thanx again.

no problems benixau, its good to speak to another aussie clie user !!!

i was in a similar situation. i was going to buy from overseas. i had a mate of mine who actually did buy one only to get stung from customs. he ended up paying full price cuz customs were going to confiscate it.

i reckon the asian (japanese) nx is a good model because it has more flash ram. combined with jackflash you are going to end up with more usable ram.

however, one problem...

the stupid thing is in japanese. unless someone can come out with a rom flash upgrade, its pointless. however in saying that look at another thread where someone reckons they have done it.

i reckon its bogus. anyway stick to an english version and just get the cf driver.

850 for the nx is way too much. Better off with HT and your going to get it much cheaper and easier.

these forums are good arent they. i used to be a windows ce man, then moved to ppc until i found the light and switched to a clie

ive still got

Palm III
Palm IIIc
Palm V
Palm Vx
Palm m505
Palm m500
Palm m130
Phillps Nino
Compaq iPAQ 3630, 3870, 2010, Aero 8000
and my favourite NX70V

i love this technology. my wife hates it ! i wonder why? $$$$$

if only there was a way to get around all of the things i mentioned before.

you could get mailed to you in small parts and then put it back together over here.. ;)
