I found this in another forum
FlyZip is a great piece of Palm software, among my most used utilities on my PEG-T415.
I've been using FlyZip since ver. 1.4. It was a great program then, it is an unbelievably GREAT program now. They told me many months ago, "just wait and see what is to come in later versions". This is it; FlyZip 2.1, released yesterday, decompresses applications automatically when you launch them and when you quit the application, compresses it again... all on its own at a speed of light! Nothing for you to do but use the compressed applications you choose.
If you need more RAM space, try folks FlyZip... its much cheaper than a RAM upgrade and much more convenient than usage of MS.
The DEMO is fully functional now!

This is pretty good as I have had it for a while, but MegaLauncher offers this as well so I use that.

Which of these Zip-utilities would you recommend?
- LightnZip
- FlyZip
- HandZipper
I use HandZipper Light together with SnapperMail. I am wondering now if I should upgrade to the full version of HandZipper or try one of the other Zip-apps.

Handzipper and LightnZip.
These two formats can zip into standard winzip - which is a huge advantage if you want to copy en-masse compressed files to/from MS.
Winzip may not be the most efficient compression algorithm - but it still ranks as one of the better ones.

Thanks Yorrick,
guess I'll go with HandZipper then, because I have never had any trouble with HandZipper Light. Only thing that bothers me a little is that their website (http://www.handwatch.com) hasn't been updated in over a year..
What I still don't quite understand is, do I get this functionality
decompresses applications automatically when you launch them and when you quit the application, compresses it again...
with Handzipper, too?
Sorry, read their websites, but still... ;) Looks to me that FlyZip main use is to free up ram and the other two zip applications work only on files stored on the memorystick. Or am I completely wrong?
Thanks!

Larry - is there a restriction as to which appls can be Zipped using Flyzip and which ones cannot? How much of a saving have you made? Does it cause any issues e.g. when you Hotsync or when you upgrade application versions?

Did you use it on the NX70 as well?

If so which version do you download as there are 3 on the website?

I use FlyZip to keep Megalauncher and all it's files on my MS so I can experiment with it. ZLauncher is my launcher of choice. The total of the ML 4.3 files, including background is about 1.5MB. FlyZip shrinks it to about 500kb and automatically puts the files into one zip file on my MS, so I have no RAM overhead keeping ML available. FlyZip won't automatically unzip and launch from MS, just RAM. FlyZip is also significantly faster than LightNzip on OS4 devices and more convenient to use, unless you need WinZip compatibility.

When you want to run ML, you use Flyzip to decompress and then launch as normal? Its a pity it does not unzip from MS and launch appl

I received v2.5b5 from Flyzip and hope to start testing soon.

Just open FlyZip, select ML, select unzip and ML is unzipped to RAM. Then I can launch ML and all my categories and settings are preserved from the last time I used it.
