hey guys, i'm back, been using my new ipaq 1910 for a month, first it was jus amazing, the divx and ogg was the bomb, but now the craze is over and i'm starting to realize pocketpc is jus horrible, can't customize at all, and so much harder to use, not hard but takes long to do certain tasks, and pocketmirror has much better sync then activesync, well i have 2 days left till i can trade in my 1910 for a t665, HELP ME GUYS!! main thing is the mp3 player for t665 that is a concern to me, what bitrate can t665 play? also mp3 the only format it can play? also should i keep 1910 or get 665? please help me, i'm leanin towards t665 cuz theres so many programs i miss, and other then the multimedia, ppc sucks.. without the media support 1910 would be useless... i perfer usuage over multimedia, but its a hard choice.. what should i do? i use my pda for mp3/ogg player everyday, do t665 have good mp3 support?

Palm OS is great for usability and what good is a PDA if you cant use it.....I had horrible problems with PPC as well. If I had to choose I would go with the T665 but if you have a little more cash try out the Zire 71 - seems to be getting decent reviews...sounds promising to me.

Dont know how good mp3 playback is on the T665 but having used many Pocket PC devices (mostly variants of the IPAQ) in my time there is no way I would ever consider a PPC2002 device over a Clie.

If you stick with the PPC you will soon regret it when you find more and more little annoyances with the OS.

If you can live without all the 'wizzey' multimedia support on the PPC I would definetly exchange it for a T665.

mp3 play on the t665 is excellent using a good quality earphone (the bundled earphone is not bad at all but the sounds improves a great deal using a hi fi earphone) the bass is deep and the sound is comparable to a sony cd player. Using the buit-in speaker however, the sound is a little weak if compared to the ipaq. I dont really mind this, note that its a case of weak (built-in) speaker not of poor sound quality.

and yes, mp3 is the only format it can play (and that sony propriety file... attrac?? cant remember)

i tried an ipaq and i would say i will pick the t665 over this. Multimedia capability of t665 is not bad. I still prefer palm os vs ppc. like you said the only thing working of ppc is their multimedia capability... sony took care of that with their clies.. might want to check out the zire 71 though :)

What aaronrkelly said. =) That new Zire has even greater appeal then the 1910. I tinkered with on the other day, it's tiny, the joystick rocks and it can play music. Also if you bought an SD for your HP you could move it to a Zire.

I was also irratated about some of the limitations of PPC2002, but I use my PPC for Flash and Nintendo emulation so It's been a good unit. If my SONY didn't have the audio remote I would probably use the PPC for music also. But a Microdrive isn't the best choice for storage when it comes to audio; Too noisey. =) I was shocked by what features the PPC lacked when I first started using it. Yishow spoiled me.

OGG is a great music format, I wish my Clie' used it instead of ATTRAC and MP3.

here is what i think;

PPC is good for one thing - making you realise you want the PalmOS platform

PalmSG is good for one thing - making you realise you need a Sony Clie

Sony Clies are good for lots of thinggs, period.

well i know that the palmos is much more useful since i used a t615 before i bought a 1910, only reason i got a 1910 was becaause my t615 broke and they had no t665 in stock, but now they got some t665 in so its soo hard for me to decide, main thing that makes me keep the 1910 is that its so small, screen is soooo bright and white is whiter then white, and the main main thing is the audio player, i can play ogg files and its the bomb, wondering what are some features of the t665 over the t615? like what does the hold button do? does it have anything else that my ol t615 didnt? also bout the screen, is it much better then the t615? is it bright? and hows the battery life?

The 665 has a faster processor than the 615. The screen is much brighter with more vibrant colors. The hold button allows you to play MP#'s with the screen off thus saving battery life. Go with the Sony!

The hold button is the same as a CD player. Prevents your Clie' from accidently being turned on.

Also the 655c has a 66 SuperVZ where as the 615 has a 33. The 33 is good for most items, but a 66 is noticeably faster.

What kind of budget do you have? I was wondering if you've even considered the Zire 71? It's just as small as the 1910. It doesn't have an audio remote option like the 655, but it's storage media will cost you less in the long run and more importantly can reach a higher capacity. 512 vs. only 128 on the SONY. Also SONY wants it's users to use ATTRAC, so MP3 playback is more of a hassle when removing or adding songs on the SONY. You can't not create playlist with SONY's provided audio player. Another consideration, is that the Zire uses PALM OS5 where as the other Clie's you are looking at are OS4. This will give your PDA a longer life. And as a bonus, not important, you can buy classic Sega games for the Zire. =)

OGG is great, it's smaller then any other compressed music format and more closely resembles the originall uncompressed file.

The TG50 can play the sega games with the patch. If you want OS5 and a clie, the TG50 is really the way to go (if you don't want to pay that much more and get the NX. I know it's a bias from me. I think it's a great upgrade from the T665c, and the thumbboard is really underrated. I really prefered the TG50 to the Zire 71, but the TG50 seems to me like it's bordering on low-high-end and high-mid-range. The Zire 71 seems to be mid-range.

I would recommend a SJ33 or Zire 71. I used a SJ33 for awhile and was very satisfied, just switched to a Zire 71. I've toyed with the iPaq, but I much prefer the Palm OS and Shadow only comes on Palm.

Both are great and have very good battery life. I went with the Zire to have larger card support and zippier performance with a couple of important apps (larger iSilo and Shadow files). But I would have been still happy with my CLIE.

Another thing- no matter what PalmOS PDA you go with, this is by far the best website for basically all Palm users!

I'm not sure if the zire plays ogg but I would guess it does since the tungsten has a few apps that allow it to do this

Aeroplayer has OGG support, and costs $9. There's also another player that actually has WMA support too.

I have been using the T665C for MP3 playback. The sound are awesome, IMO, 128 bitrate should be enough, unless you are planning to connect the Clie to an external speaker. Invest in a good pair of earphones and it will last far.

About the PPC, heard that its kinda screwed up, but personally, I have not use it before. I will wanna try using a PPC to compare the difference, but in Singapore, they dont have such things as 30 day exchange policy. Kinda of a sad thing. But as people say, if you have the money, invest in a better PDA, like the SJ33 or Palm Zire 71. I will like to buy a VG PDA. :)

just got back from futureshop for the second time, last night i headed to futureshop to return my 1910 and got a t665 open box unit since it was the only one they had, when i got home i realized it was missin the charger cord and also was a huge dent by the ms slot, so today i stopped by another future shop and exchanged it for another open box unit, seems that there was no t665 anymore since it has been discontinued, well this time i told the salesman that i wanted new earphone since this was used and it was nasty to reuse someones earphones, salesman was nice enough to hook me up with brand new set of sony earphones for free, also it came with a free black leather sony clie case, i think it wasn't suppose to come for free but it was in the box and seems to be a sony brand case, hella nice, and also got extra $20 dollars off since it was open unit, i think i got a pretty good deal, theres no scratches or anythin on this unit i got, only think i'm worried is that the prior user might not have charged it right the first time, hopefully he/she knew to charge fully for the first few times... well i'm finally happy again, no more ppc's for me, maybe when ppc 2003 comes out i'll check it, but till then clie is the one for me.. thanx guys for helpin me choose clie once again... heh.. but i do gotta say 665 has hella better display then my old t615 and also hella noticeably faster too.. 66mhz does help, well expect more yishow skins from me, i'll be developin more skins now since i got my clie back, maybe i'll work on some zlauncher skins.. we'll see...

j0nblayz ...

i just realized that you are the one who created my fav skin for yishow, palm whistler and palm tuner. well, ... it is a good thing to have you back here.

anyway, you should know that these skins has tied me up to yishow while zlauncher is very appealing right now. i am afraid that i will switch to zlauncher. i am still moving back and forth between yishow and zlauncher at this moment. :-)

so, any chance that you will port these skins to zlauncher (320x480)? especially the palm whistler.

thanks
