Avantgo 5 beta problem

I just installed the beta version on Avantgo on my NX70, and although it was installed, it tells me to sync to get my previously selected channels (I had AG 4 on my SJ30). After a few HotSyncs, no channels have appeared yet, and I keep getting the AG reminder message to HotSync to get my channels.

Any ideas?? Thanks!

I guess the first thing to verify, is did you enter your Avantgo username & password on the handheld?

Second thing would be do you see the Avantgo stuff on the PC when you hotsync?

Is AG Connect properly set?

Server: AvantGo.com

Check the settings for the server

Server Addr: sync.avantgo.com
Port: 80
User Name: Yours
Pasword: Yours

If it's not set, just create a new profile with those settings. Hope that will help

Then you can go into the Control Panel on the desktop PC and check those settings there too as markogin gave.

I checked both the Clie and in Control Panel (I use WinXP Pro). Tested the connection and tests were succesful. Server info also is ok.

I will test it again ASAP...

Did you uninstall ALL AvantGo from your Desktop as well when you upgraded your clie and went to beta version? You may need to ( and it is also wise to do so anyway) un and then re- install Avantgo on your desktop.

Also, are you using a MS to store your channels? If so your MS needs to have a name such as Card or Stuff. To name your card just go to card info then tap menu and rename card. In AGConnect make sure the box is checked to use card and that the MS with the name is shown.

I was able to finally sync my channels after moving some stuff with Powerrun to MS. I have read some threads on how to run Avantgo from MS, but no definitive ones.

Maybe you guys can point me in the right direction as to how to do it, as searches have yielded no satisfactory answer as to how to do it.

It is very simple to put your channels on MS. Open AvantGo Connect, then tap on settings and at the bottom you will see the option to Use Card:, checkmark it and tap ok, then hotsync.

What about threads that say stuff about moving the app itself to MS?? I know about the Card option you guys mention in AG Connect, but have not tried it... does it move all channles to MS??

Here is how to do it with avantgo (at least this is what has worked for me)... You can move the avantgo app. itself to memory stick BUT you MUST leave AGConnect in RAM and you must name your memory stick.

DO NOT USE POWERUN!! just move the fil using your launcher.

To name a MS you  launch Card Info. then choose menu and choose rename card.

After you have named your MS, launch AGConnect and choose settings... Make sure there is a check mark in the box for Use card and make sure the card name is the name of the MS that you just set. hit OK and make sure that Update During Next Sync is checked. HotSync and you should be good to go.

That will put your channels on your MS...

I have been using Avantgo off my MS for a few days now and all of a sudden I keep getting "The server unexpectedly closed the connection". Tested the connection from my desktop and it is fine. checked my settings for agconnect on my clie and they are OK. What gives?

OK...So I just now put Avantgo back in internal memory and changed the AGConnect settings to NOT use the MS and now everything works fine.

Has anyone had this problem? My MS has about 6mb of free memory with AVantgo on it so I don't think it's a memory problem. Couldit be an access problem or speed problem?

I think what you needed to do in the first place, instead of removing PowerRun, was to check the box that says "Refresh all content on the next hotsync." this is under the properties of AvantGo connect on your desktop.
