If you are running the most current version of ZLauncher ..... (not distinguishing between PDA Models/OS Versions, can you use image files (like .JPG)?
Or is it necessary to require them to be converted into a .PDB file for some PDAs/OS Versions???????
I have a NZ ... and don't have any problem with .JPG images for backgrounds... but I'm trying to help someone who is trying to tell me that when he moves the .jpg into his backimage directory ... it doesn't show up.
*puzzled*
If it is required to have some background images as .PDB .... what software do I need to create .PDB background images?

If your PDA has the Sony JPEG decoder libraries, then you can use JPEG images just fine (as stated in the manual). If not, you need to either use BMP or convert it to .PDB first. You can use PicureGearLite to convert it.
Also, the colour depth of the image has to match the colour depth of the screen (i.e., black/white, 4-bit, 16-bit).

Thanks....I searched cliesource.. and found several people who stated you needed to use PictureGearLite .... I have the Picture-Gear Studio which came with the CLIE .... but didn't find anything in there which shows how to make it a .pdb file......
What I did discover (by accident) was taking the .jpg on my MS ... selecting that .jpg as my background... and then making a COPY of it .... once you 'activate' a background ... it makes it a .pdb file. However it doesn't show the 'extension'.
Basically.... I had a .jpg file called... we shall say Ice.jpg .... when you select that .jpg as your background... it copies it and creates a .pdb file out of it called Ice.jpg.pdb. Unfortunately you don't get to see the .pdb extension on it. I found this out when I was running MS-IMPORT ... and was like... HUH ... how did I get these .PDB files???? then I played a little.. and found out how to create 'em right off of the PDA itself...
Thanks for the tip about PictureGearLite .... but still never saw any information on how to create .pdb files with it ..... *shrug*

Using PictureGear Lite you don't need to create a .pdb, just select the images and go to file - Output Services - Install during next hotsync
And the images will be available in Zlauncher to be used as backgrounds
