Is there any type of keyboard hack or program that will allow me to enter text directly into the app I'm launching the keyboard from? I don't know if mykbd does this but it apparently isn't compatible with my T/E so it's a moot point.

Try that.

if you had a hires+ device (T5, t|X for instance) you could use thumbboardDA: http://twriter.atspace.com/thumbboardda.html

Both great apps imho

Doesn't mini-kbd open with it's own text entry field though? Instead of the keyboard application bringing up it's own field for text entry...if the keyboard would allow me to enter the text directly into the text field in the application I'm launching it from. For example, I'm in memopad now, when I launch the Palm keyboard, it opens up with the keyboard and it's own text entry field above the keyboard. I have to type the text into the text entry field and hit "done" which then enters the text into the text field on memopad. Isn't there any way to just have the qwerty keyboard show up without it's own text entry area and have the text enter directly into memopad? Honest...it all makes sense in my head!

myKbd does this, but as you stated...b/c of your device, it is a moot point. You don't want to type into a box and then hit done for it to apply on your memo screen. You want to press the letter and have it show up directly in your memo.

Minikeyboard does that as well. That's not a text box you see (IIRC), that's a small portion of the app (say Memo) screen that is shown. Give it a try, I think it might be just what you're looking for.

Edit: Nope, I was wrong. That IS a text entry window. I thought it was showing a small part of the app screen. I just installed it to check. Sorry Lorraine.

That's okay. No harm, no foul. :)

I just saw Hook and Josser's replies to you on BH. Since your device doensn't have a DIA then minikeyboard is exactly what you need. Any stand alone keyboard app (w/o a dedicated text entry box) would take over the entire screen.
