Restoring from foreign memory stick

Does anybody know how to circumvent the restrictions on restoring Clie memory stick backups to a different unit? If you make a MS backup on unit "A", you cannot restore the data on unit "B", even if the models are exactly the same. This is particularly frustrating if you have a TJ35 that has died and a second TJ35 just sitting in the desk drawer. You "could" just restore the data from a memory stick backup to the second TJ35 if Sony didn't prevent the restore from a "different unit".
Any workaround?

Read very carefully: Use file z to go to the backup file (under Memory card/Palm/programs/MSBackup/0 or whatever symbol/ files that you may need.

Highlight or mark the files you only need and press copy to handheld.
