Anyone have some recommendations on how to create a direct link to a document in the default Palm launcher? Is this even possible? I'd like to link directly to an xls....

Check out ZLink from ZZTechs (makers of ZLauncher). It will do exactly what you are after. Granted it is a bit pricey if you already have ZLauncher, but a great product nonetheless.

What Palm do you have? I did this by installing the Files app from a T5 on my T|X. This allows the Favorites app to link to files, folders and Web links in addition to apps.

IIRC, the T|X Favorites program can also link to files, folders and web links.
[Edit]: Ah... only databases and web links. So, you'd have to create a web link that was a file:// link to a file or folder to get that to work.

However, I recently tried to get iPhoneImitation to replace Favorites, with no luck. I changed the name/creator to the right value, adjusted the version number to 99, but it still insisted in reading the Favorites app from ROM. Anyone know what I'm missing?

TealAlias does the trick by creating "launchlet" apps that when run, launch a file on the SD card.

I have a TX, but was not wanting to use the Favorites launcher... I prefer the normal Palm launcher...

As for ZLink... it looks a lot like PowerRun.... do you know if PowerRun will also allow links to documents?

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about PowerRun. I received ZLink as a gift for testing so I never looked at anything else. Sorry.
