I found a Lexar 128MB memory stick (compatible with Sony Clie) on ECost (http://www.ecost.com) for $29.99 after $15 rebate. Has anyone had any experiences, good or bad, with the Lexar memory stick with their Clie's?

TIA,
Critter's Mom

Lexar memory sticks are fine - have had no problems with mine. If you can live with a lower price (and who can't?) and with the absence of the Sony logo (you'll get over that too), then they're fine to use.

I think Lexar MS are generally fine, unless you wanna the SONY logo for a higher price. I'm considering selling my 64MB MS SOny for a Lexar 128 MB. :)

The Lexar and Sandisk MSes are 100% the same thing. In fact, one or both of the brands are just different branding put on product made at the same location where the Sony MSs are made.

All of my larger capacity MSs are Lexar. The price you found is very good. Get two!

For some reason, people get VERY polorized on the subject of which (non-Sony) brand of MS to buy.  I happen to have 2 128Mb Purple Lexar MS's that I bought thropugh Amazon.com in the last few months.  I have not had any problems with the product.  But the rebate process has been less than optimum.  I had to resend my UPC code for one of the sticks, as they claimed I haden't sent it.  I suspect it's a test to see if I kept copies of my reciepts.

I've seen claims about higher failure rates with Lexar than SanDisk.  But I don't know if that's out-of-the-box, or over time.  Plus it might depend on when you purchase it.  And I've seen posts which mentioned solving problems with a MS by reformatting it using the Clie.

So as you can see, there is no clear answer here.... except to NOT by Sony brand MS.:p

I use one 128mb Lexar MS and havent had any problems. A good source told me that Sony MS (original) and Lexar are made by the same company... Sony.

For Sony Sticks youre paying for the logo on it. You can take a look at the back of the Lexar card and you may find the same info and "made in japan" phrase as in Sony "original" MS

I also have muliple sticks from Lexar and the ONLY thing that is "wrong" is that my purple 64 stick can't be read by my stick reader. It works perfectly on my NR, NZ and my Sony Dig Cam. Does anyone want to buy a stick reader???

I'm having a problem with a Lexar 128MB. It became read-only without lock, no idea how to fix it. I posted a thread but nobody replied. Will somebody please help?

I don't think sony makes there memory sticks. Memory Sticks makes memory sticks.

Try using ms import in order to open from windows explorer the drive (in this case, the memory stick) click right on the mouse over the folders to open them and change uncheck read-only. This should solve your problem.

Lexar memory works fine except it has much lower price than Sony - who hate that?

My daughter (9) advised me to get the Lexar.
She thought the translucent purple looked "cooler".
Never had a problem.
And when its inserted you can't tell the Sony Logo is missing.

I should have gotten 2 Lexar MS, but I thought 128MB was more than enough. LOL, silly me! After I discovered AudioPlay and figured out how to rip .cda files to .mp3 I may run out of MB sooner than I thought. ROFLMAO. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

I have three Lexar MS and have had no problems what so ever. I got them from eCost. As mentioned in another posting, the rebate is a real pain. I had to harrass them into accepting mine. I bought them on December 31, and finally last week got one rebate in the mail. They really work hard not to give them to you. ~Jack
