I have a backup program called BackupMan. Anyone familiar with this program? Anyway, I backup daily and I've noticed that each time I backup, the BackupMan program creates 2 new files on my SD card that are saved in the BackupMan folder. One is a text file and the other is something called a SET file. My SD card is I'm starting to accumulate a lot of these files and it is using up alot of space.

Any strategies out there for dealing with this? Backups are important for me and I don't want to lose data if the PDA konks out, but I also want to regain some of my SD card back.

What version of BackupMan do you have?

In more recent versions, you can go to Options > Schedule > Next > Next > Next and specify: "Keep at most 3 automated backups".

Hi thanks guys. I have version 2.3, which I think is the most current one. I think I'm going to change my backup strategy. I have been manually backing up every day, but for me I don't think that is necessary. I suppose I could just backup every week or so, or even only after new installations of programs. Is there a way that I can have my backup program just save like the last backup? How? Do I do that manually? And what's the purpose of saving multiple backups?

Better yet, have BackupMan run scheduled backups in the middle of the night, so you don't have to worry/bother with it. If you set it to Save at most - 1 you will only have one backup set. I'd recommend keeping at least two though (I keep 3). Why? If you make a change / add a program, you might not detect an induced problem right away. So have three days of backups would allow you to restore to prior to the problem being installed up to three days ago.

Also, learn which files are your device's PIM files and if you restore a three-day old back, unselect those files before restore and you will not lose your most recent changes to calendar, tasks, memos, contacts. ;)

I have separate SD card to put in at night to hold the backup files. It's only 1gb, but it holds tons ;)

And you can buy 1gb 130x for 30 bucks at a Sam's Club.

Here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16800991010) is a pretty good deal that I found that requires no hassle. 1GB Crucial SD card for $9.99 with no rebate and free shipping from Newegg. I've used them often with no problems. More patience might get you something similar for half that, although you might have to send in a rebate.

A couple weeks ago I got a 2GB SanDisk Ultra II SD (the one with the built-in USB connection) from Amazon for £16.98 (plus P+P).

I use BackupBuddy VFS to run an automatic backup at midnight each night; it auto archives any deleted files, which I clean out every week or four. I also create a checkpoint manually about once a month and just keep the last three. That gives me security and plenty of room for whatever else I need to carry on it.
