hi,
since there is a cf driver released i plan to buy a nx70. i still have some questions before buying it. i think this place here is a great place to ask those things:

1. is ist possible to switch the backlight off in order to keep it longer working (the display should still visible)?

2. is it possible to watch whole movies in good quality with nx using the cf card? (i am worried about the slow data transfer speed) if it is possible, wich conditions (framerate, resolution,compression->divx)?(i guess the app is kinoma?)

3. how is the record quality via built in microphone? is it possible to compress (i.e. mp3) the recorded sound data in real time?

4. how about the battery life after 6 months? i guess it loses some power over a longer period of time. is it possible to exchange the accu?

5. did someone use a battery test program to compare it with other devices (my sl10 runs about 8 hours using aaa accus)?

1. yes

2. yes, from divx you're required to convert it to mpg. This can be done with TMPEG wich is freeware

3.good, hi-quality and lo-quality can be selected

4.constant, yes you can change the battery for maintainance. It requires a 'phillips-head' screwdriver to open the batt compartment

5.slightly worse then my old N770c

@Selachii
thx for fast answer. :)
about 3. so there is no app that records into mp3 yet?
about 2. i thought it is possible to convert divx directly into kinoma format...
btw: are you using the cf driver already?

Fogg,

IMHO, The default player for the NX is a better player than Kinoma (unless you already have lots of movies converted for NX in Kinoma). As for the desktop, I wish Image converter had more "output" options.

Seeing Foggs post, I am also contemplating the NX70v within the next 2 weeks.

My question also involves the lifespan of the battery, are they replacable? (ie. by removal of few screws/clips and purchasing a replacement battery from Sony) or is it permanent and non-removable in the unit??

Does anyone know??

This is one thing that is holding me back. I like the NZ90 where you can replace the battery, but the price range is too much for a pda.

PS.. Excellent forum.. !

It is replaceable. the cover is on the lower left part of the clamshell.
