It is very embarrassing that my TX suddenly sounds in the class or meeting. And it is very painful if I foget to turn on the sound of TX after the class or meeting. Is there a DA that can turn off the sound and turn it on AUTOMATICALLY after certain time.
Or is there a better way to deal such annoying thing.

Volume DA will allow you to turn the volume off (or select how loud you want it to ring) and set a time period for it to resume aftewards.

Here's a link (http://www001.upp.so-net.ne.jp/kterada/pilot/index.html#VolumeDA) for you to check it out if you'd like.

I use SoundDA for this very purpose. VolumeDA is good too, but I think SoundDA is a little more versatile:

Thanks goonie. That link wouldn't work for me, but I found it over on Palmgear. I'm going to try it out and see which I like better. Thanks again.

I like VolumeDA as well. I have used it for many years. Excellent app.

Ohappydaye~ I be curious to hear what you think of SoundDA.

VolumeDA fits my case better. Too bad it doesn't have an option to resume after 1 hour and remember it.

I can toggle the sound for SoundDA for any time period I wish, and it notifies me (silently) when the sound has been toggled back to the other setting. You can set a time, or a delay period. I find the latter to be counter-intuitive in the way it's set up, so I always simply set a time (e.g., toggle the sound at 5 PM rather than toggle the sound in 3-1/2 hours).

Perhaps this (no DA)?

I found that none of these silenced all my alarms. The only thing that did it all (except for the safe alarm in 2PlayMe) is Alex Pruss' Silence Hack with YAHM. I created a macro with mykbd to turn it on and off by first creating 2 profiles in YAHM. 1 profile has silence hack on the other off. My macro runs YAHM selects the correct profile then returns to my launcher (<run YAHM><tap B><run LauncherX> and <run YAHM><tap A><run LauncherX> - the first turns the silence hack on and the second turns it off). You don't need to buy mykbd or myskin to get the macro capability just download the demo from palmgear of mykbd the macro ability along with some other stuff will persist after the trial expires.

Well, I've only tried it out for one day now and I have to say that there are things about each one that I like...I wish I could merge them. I like how I have more time options in SoundDA, it's more customizable. I'm not sure if I like VolumeDA more b/c it's more familiar to me or not. I like how its rather clean and simple in regard to not "setting" a time to toggle but just selecting an increment. The only down side to that is the developers of VolumeDA don't give you enough increments to select from.

I'm a little confused about the time delay. I initially thought I could select a time in advance to silence my alarms/sounds so that I wouldn't forget. But when I tried to set a delayed time for my settings to kick in, the delay time ended up being for tomorrow morning. I was trying to delay it for 5:30 this evening. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I'll figure it out.

Change is always difficult, but I'm going to give it a try with this app. I don't think one day was enough time for me to form an opinion so we'll see how it goes for me. I must say I love the intuitiveness of the VolumeDA. I like "nice and easy," and Volume DA is just that. However, I will give SoundDA more of a chance and report back at a later time.

Excuse my ramblings please. :o

Alright goonie, help me out here. The readme file has no helpful information so since you have experience with this app I'm hoping for a mini tutorial.

I go in and set the time that I want my "sounds" to toggle back on - got it. But I can't figure this time delay thing. I know I'm going to feel like an idiot the moment I read your response, but I'm a bit puzzled. It's not acting in the manner I thought it would....however, I'm sure I'm being dense about it.

Thanks in advance doogie. ;)

I tried SoundDa again and the new mentioned NoAlarms. To resume the sound after 1 hour, SoundDA need 8 clicks and NoAlarms need 7 clicks. I am imaging one DA that can do this with one click.

Lakeside, I find it extraordinary that you can have one post in nearly four years. I couldn't keep my mouth shut for ten minutes..

Yea, it is a tad bit disheartening that it takes quite so many clicks, but once you get accustomed to it it's not so much of a big deal. SoundDA is still a bit more cumbersome to me, learning curve and all, as I'm used to VolumeDA. I tend to run through those clicks much faster. It's a given that the ins and outs of that DA would be automatic for me as I've used it more. <shrugs> I'm inclined to give SoundDA the boot though, mainly b/c DA's are supposed to be "simple"...maybe I was just dense on yesterday. :p

 I must agree, that IS quite shocking. I guess Lakeside took that whole "strong and silent type" to heart. :p

Sounds like you may have figured it out based on subsequent posts. You set the sound (either custom or silent) to what you want NOW and then toggle the sound setting to a time or a delay. The "set delay" thing is indeed confusing; even though there is an AM and PM, 12:00 AM means no time at all, 1:00 AM means "in an hour", 1:00 PM means "in 13 hours", etc. That's why I mentioned that I only use the "set time", which will simply assign the toggle to the time I want, which is what I want. I can figure out what time two hours from now is on my own.

I used and liked VolumeDA in the past and it is indeed much more intuitive, but what I didn't like was that I was forced to use the time durations built in.

Thanks a million, yea I figured out half of it, but that darn delay made no sense what so ever!!! The developer should really fix that.

I agree with all your views in regard to the two DAs. Volume DA would be solid if you could either set your own time durations or have more options. I always thought "1 hour" was a common increment...I guess not. lol

Thanks again! :D
