View Full Version : Looking for a Palm VII
Hi,
Im looking for a Palm VII - but I need the older version with the Dragonball 68328 CPU (not the one with the 68EZ328).
Don't know which one you have?
Please download "ID-plate" from here: http://homepage.mac.com/alvinmok/id-plate/ and check, if the HAL-ID of yours is "jery" (if it's "bnza", you got a newer model).
Please get in touch with me if you have the device in question and are willing to sell it....

But jokes aside, check ebay...there was a huge load of those critters there a few months back

Curious. What purpose do you have that would require specifically the older VII's? Just curious.

Twenty bucks, plus shipping and handling? You want the case too? Sorry no cd or hotsync cord. I'll even throw in a broken screen Palm VIIx. However the serial # is 60DA1CE91005
LOWER SERIAL 11/2/121415/0
since I have no hotsync cord I will have to beam the program to check if it has the older dragonball chip...
Or ten dollars and postage and handling and you send me a direct serial for a Palm Professional (the same as a Palm VIIhotsync cord)

No, I just mean a regular (black/grey) VII, but with the old Dragonball-CPU.

I'm collecting them (106 PDAs - 49 with PalmOS) and the old VII is one of the last missing Palms :)

If it's the right one and you're willing to ship it to Germany or to a military PO Box, you just sold your VII ;)

I just finished installing by beaming the program and it say the right cpu 68328 (no ez was read) It has a bit of corrosion from a bad alkaline battery ( a bit green ) an immaculate screen and worked when I reset it. E-mail me your address or private message me here. My e-mail is philiptomhomatyahoocom (change the at to the approiate symbol and put a period between yahoo and com)

Here is a lousy scan of my Palm VII. If you have a good computer monitor you can barely see the cpu #:

I wonder if Tam Hanna is in Germany and would like to help be the trusted middleman?( A free broken PalmVIIx?)

Ahh. With that in mind, my mind seams to recall that there where actually two releases of the DragonBall VII. The first was released only in New York, and the second was release nation wide, and then the third EZ version was release nation wide. There was a minor version difference in the OSs of these three different devices. Something like 3.2 for the first, 3.2.2 for the second and 3.2.5 for the third; these would be the version numbers in ROM before any minor OS update was applied. However, I currently cannot find any reference to verify my memory.

There are *three*? Oh nooooo
So my VII has OS 3.2.5, philpalm's VII is a OS 3.2.0... so I'd still need the 3.2.2-model.....

Now that I think about it, since you highly recommend owl, I am willing to send the package to either of you (by ship since it is the least inexpensive method) You should contact each other and find out who is the least busy(?) And work out how to divide the shipping and fees. Thus when the package arrives you can send me for the shipping and the equivalent of $10.
Hopefully there will be no customs problem, I get to clear out some of my junk. BTW are you also interested in a Kyocera 6035 which is both a phone and a pdapalm based? (thrown in free with the deal?)

Hi,
yes, great interest in the Kyocera. You'll get pictures of it all over TamsPalm=).
Has owl already sorted the transfer issues out?

Notes on sending:
The postage was under $10, they were almost going to charge me for another box.
The box was open (but the clerk didn't want to look inside) so that they know it wasn't anything dangerous. Then the lady taped it with brown package tape.
Oh my God, I forgot to ask if you wanted a Palm Pilot Professional? Maybe you want to send me instead of Dan T a hotsync cord?

Hi Philpalm,
very interested in a Palm Professional. What HS cord do you need?

When I sent somebody my Palm 3c I should have kept my cord (they already have one). I wrote about my palm Professional in a thread about old palms(in general section) all the programs are versions 2.0.
So if you get your kyocera your portion of the payment could be paid by a cord. I want to experiment with the old palm some more, when I get tired of it you would be on my list of people who would possibly receive it.
I will be looking out for other models, make sure you tell me roughly what is too much to pay for it. Remember that one guy who is looking for an early model of Sony Clie? My earliest model is a Clie S 360. I am trying to decide which is better to use between a Palm M500 or S-360...opps should save this for a new thread...

Hi,
what kind of hotsync cord do you need?
I am sorry, but I dont have such a cord any more. Probably, none of the hardware manufacturers I know have such a cord either...
Please email me at Tamog at GMX dot AT and Ill see what I can arrange!

Update. Just checked Proporta, and nope.
All I could try is get you the pinout and try to solder together a PCB for you...
I *might* have a serial cable with the old PalmIII-plug somewhere - I only have to find it
Would a regular PalmIII-cradle be ok? I have some of these for sure (you could easly remove the PCB with the plug from it, if you want/need to).

Here is a picture of the hotsync portion:

...and here's the cradle I can send to you:

So this might be a very good deal for Tam: I pay the shipping for his Kyocera from Germany to Austria and I even supply the "payment" for it....
This is gonna cost you, Mr. Hanna :D :D :D

Ah the old ten pin connector. Looks good fortunately I use old equiptment with the direct serial. I know the file z program works with os3 I certainly hope it works with os2.
I hope I can find more retro files to work with my retro palm professional....
I'm moving the Palm pilot professional thread to here:
