win hand vs. palm vnc?

using my wifi card now... having lotsa fun. tried win hand yesterday and i was most impressed (told my family it was magic, they were more impressed than I). Now though i want to reduce the lag time. is palm vnc any faster? i'd like hires+ but speed is my main issue. is there any way to speed up winhand?

Winhand is fast compared to PalmVNC. I never tried to speed up Winhand. Make sure in the Clie's advanced network wireless settings tha PowerSaveMode is unchecked! ! ! Otherwise it will slow your connection speeds.

Also try other things like putting no desktop wallpaper, it will increase the speed quite a bit because Winhad/VNC wont have to sent those pics everytime.

PalmVNC is uselss IMHO. I have found it to be about TEN TIMES slower than win-hand...

VNC works on over 30 platforms, winhand works on ONE. I don't think its useless.

Well it works on mine!! Compared both of them and VNC was unusable in any practical sense...

Use a recent VNC server that auto-disables wallpaper for best performance; I'm a big fan of TightVNC.

I use PalmVNC to start up the Win-hand program on the PC I want to control. The VNC server can run as a service, but I cannot seem to get Win-Hand to start without logging in on the PC. If I get Win-Hand running I then switch back to Win-Hand.

VNC is indeed dead-slow. In fact other people start whining about the network slowing down when I use VNC from my PC to control another one. I don't know what VNC actually does, but it sure sends a lot of data.
