Have a CLIE 760 and have had it for about 1 year. About 1 month ago anytime I inserted the memory stick in, it would immediately pop out. I remember reading awhile back (don't remember where) that this problem was not an uncommon situation. My question, has anyone tried to fix this problem themselves? If so, what is involved? I don't mind tinkering or taking apart things. Thanks in advance.

I heard that it required a new mother board in order to fix it. Most folks sent it to Sony under warranty. Not sure where you can get a mother board.

There were instructions (or a link to them) posted on this site waaaay back when (before the board crashed) on how to fix it. Based on thje instructions given, it could be done yourself, assuming diligence and care in handling small, complex electronic components. I now have the same problem (with my old 760) and would love to see how to try and fix it myself. Anyone out there with the link or the instructions, PLEASE POST!

Hey, just keeping this alive! Does anybody remember how to fix this problem? I took mine apart, but the memory stick assembly appears to be soldered onto the motherboard. Yikes. If anybody has some suggestions, please, help! That Tunsten is 359.99 with free shipping, and Sony's closest OS 5.x is over 500 bucks. That is too much for me.

To all that have this very annoying problem -

I've been having this problem for a while, but recently was not able to keep the darn thing from popping out. I finally got tired of it and went out on a limb, and it seems to work for me. So, here's the answer you've all been waiting for.....

-Take your memory stick out (which it probably already is if you have this problem)

-Lay the memory stick label side down (i.e. contacts facing the sky), and have the contacts pointing toward you.

-See the rectangular notch along the right side of the memory stick - Good!

-Take some transparent (*scotch* cough cough) tape, and cover the notch with one layer of tape. More than one layer, and you'll have issues taking it out.

-Take your *modified* memory stick and put it in the clie. I don't know if it will stay for you all, but it does for me!

Oh yeah, mine is a 760 too.

Hope this helps you all out! Peace!
