I have had Documents to Go since I purchased my TH55 about three years ago and it worked fine. Lately when I try to use it I get the message "This edition of Documents to Go is not designed to work on your device".
Does anyone know why? I would appreciate any help.

Did you upgrade past version 8? Versions past version 8 will not work on the Clie.

My version is 7.006. I got that from the desktop because I can't get the handheld to launch.

Very strange since version 7 supports the TH55.
Have you asked Dataviz's e-mail support? Ask them for the DataViz Tech Tool, this tool enables you to delete configuration settings and the temporal database, uninstalls documents to go from your device or moves the apps from your device's RAM to a memory card, may be this tool can help you. I currently use version 8 of this tool but this version doesn't works with version 7.
If you have registered your copy with DataViz you can redownload your current version of documents to go from their website.

I got the same message (on my Tungsten T|3), when I synced it with a computer that had the Palm Desktop & DTG version that came with the T|X. It appears that the computer installed a newer version of DTG onto my T|3 (just a guess). Did you sync your TH55 on another PC?

I had something REALLY weird happen, maybe same as yours. I tried to trick my device into being a TX for Docs to Go 10, but it still didnt' work. I deleted everything about Docs 10 and the TX, but it still wouldn't open 8! I had to do a hard reset!

There is no support from Dataviz for my version of the software. By the registration code they say I have 6.008 when on my computer it says 7.006 so maybe this is the problem. I see no way of downloading the version I should have.

Do you have the original version 7 distribution on CD-ROM or the downloaded installation file? May be you have installed a DocumentsToGo 7 trial/demo version on your desktop erasing the old installation. I remember that TH55 in the US & Canada came with DocumentsToGo 6, but as I do not own any TH55 from the US nor Canada I cannot confirm that point.
Normally DatavizTech tool (DatavizTech.prc) comes sometimes with the distribution.
1. Make a backup of your device with MS Backup or another third party backup program.
2. Install DatavizTech.prc via hotsync or copy the file to a memory card in the folder /PALM/Launcher
3. Launch DatavizTech tool and uninstall DocumentsToGo, this may uninstall the databases too, so you should have a prior backup.
4. Reset the device (warm reset without erasing RAM).
5. From Documents To Go desktop application you should have a menu option that enables you to reinstall the PalmOS apps, doing this will copy the files to the install conduit of Palm Desktop, on next hotsync they will be installed on your device.
Regards.

Chou Chou,
On my PC I still have documentstogopre6008-en, presumably (I didn't let the installer go too far before cancelling) an English DocsToGo 6.008 Windows installer. It's 25 MB, which is bigger than any of my e-mail accounts will allow. So I just got a yousendit lite (free) account, thinking it would host this file for 7 days, but it's asking for a recipient e-mail address. PM me your e-mail and I will send it via yousendit. Or provide me some other way to get it to you (I can even mail a CD if that's best). I'll also send dataviztech in case you want to use that method.

If Chou Chou registered his copy of DTG 6 at Dataviz's website it should be possible to redownload the complete installation file from the Download option at their website.

Thanks for the link, I did not know about DataViz's policy change about redownloads.
IMHO it is a shame what their are doing. Here in Europe the software reseller pdassi uses a similar policy I do not like too (but they have incredible discounts from time to time). To pay for simply redownload software has not much value for me.
