I got my TG50 last friday and I'm pretty pleased with it. Unfortunately many interesting stuff requires the use of a memory stick.
I want to get myself a 512 MB MS PRO. I understand that the TG50 can handle these.
My local supplier's website says he has:
<<Memory Stick Pro 512MB Flash f Dig cam Memory Stick Pro 512MB only for 2003 DSC CAM range
Meer info
(MSX-512-813867-TD-87)>>
It seems to indicate that this stick is only for 2003 DSC camera's.
I guess that could be an old text. DOes anyone know if I would be safe buying this stick?

xenna,
The TG-50 has no problems using MS Pro Media - make sure you apply the update on Sony's support website.
I believe that IS correct about the DSC cameras - only the new 2003 models support MS PRO. I sold my DSC-P71 on eBay and bought a new DSC-P8, and my P8 can use the PRO fine.
Hope this helps!

I've got a TG50G (there are TG50H's also - don't know the difference), this is whats sold in the Australian market.
I'm using a MemStick Pro with it and haven't had to update any drivers - it works fine.

What exactly does the MSPRO patch do for a TG50?

I'll tell you what it does not do... play ATRAC3 files. Even if you convert them to .wav you are still stuck in the mud. Sony tech support says .mp3 file will play if you load them on the MS Pro stick in the MS AUDIO file location. Tried it... did not work. Let me know if anyone has a solution or knows of the update schedule for SonicStage

but what does it do? I mean can I play mp3s, use my 256memory stick pro like a normal memory stick without downloading the drivers?
What gives? I thought the TG50 could handle the memory stick pros natively without a software patch like the NX/NZs.

it should but it does not. I can play mp3's but since my whole music library is in ATRAC3 I have to convert it all. It's not rocket science, just change the .omg to.wav and then use a format converter like dBpowerAMP Music Converter and your there!

Did I get you right? You can't even play mp3s? Did you try to install them via MSImport in the Programs/MSAUDIO folder?

Well, I listened to MP3 using my TG50 all along without downloading any driver update. TG50 is okay with MP3, but you have to note that the Audio Player doesn't support VBR.
