A new PQA app called iSurf v1.3 (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?prodID=49063)is available at PalmGear (http://www.palmgear.com). While interesting in concept, please be aware of additional files contained in the .zip archive. The .zip file contains a Windows-based program that alters you Internet Explorer home page taking you to potentially unwanted sites. While this IS detailed in a "ReadMeFirst" file, I thought you should still be aware of this. My AVG Virus scanner flagged the .zip file as containing a virus, so I dumped it right then and there.
That said, the CONCEPT of using a PQA as a web proxy is very intriguing. It seems to be a very efficiant way of getting data into a wireless Palm OS device. Too bad that Palm OS 5 doean't support PQAs in the NX series. The interesting thing is that the PQA only weighs in at about 30k which makes sense considering that all the "work" is done on the back-end.
My only other concern is one of privacy by running your web queries through a PQA proxy. While it may be a non-issue, pairing this with the questionable "marketing" methods used by including potentially harmful files in a .zip file make me want to stay away.
I'm interested in your thoughts!
