Did you restore it when you did the Hard Reset? If you did that, then don't. Did it work right after the hard reset? If not, then it is a hardware problem.

The fact that an error message is generated by your Clie suggests that the problem is software/OS related and not hardware related; try dragonsgames suggestion and let us know how you get on.

Hard reset it the way to put your unit back in its factory state.
If you have a software problem, hard reset suppress it but, if you restore a backup including the same software configuration ... you just put it back in a non working state.

So, it's usefull to always keep at least 2 backup, with different configurations.

@totolo : thanks for the advice

@ all :
i have done hard reset. succesfully. now my clie has it original state (maybe... because i just bought a 2nd hand clie)
BUT the camera error still occure?
does any one have an idea ?
thanks

Oh, it's true, you just have this backup system on UX50 (i had one 2 years ago ... it's faaaaaar in my memory).

Hmm ... i suppose that if the same problem occurs on a hard reseted machine, you have a hardware failure somewhere. Maybe it's something easy to fix (a disconnected cable for exemple) but maybe you will not get it back to work whatever you do.

Sorry to tell you this.

Things do have a finite life.

Well ...
May i make a suggestion ?

You know, it's not a soooo biiiiiiiiiig loss.
Because in comparison with actual standards, UX50's camera is really crapy.

What could you do ?
Just change your cell phone for a sony one with a decent camera ! You just would have to exchange the MS to use its pictures on your clié.

Or maybe you could just use any other brand's cellphone with bluetooth and send your pictures to the clié wireless ... maybe slower, but i suppose it's not so often you would need to do that !

It's not the end of the world, don't throw your clié fr this !!! :D

thanks u for u'r suggestions totololo

actually i'm not willing to trow my UX for now... :-))
i really love this palm it's very2 responsive compare to my friend PPC.
and it has alot of usefull program for me...
i still want to explore it ability for more... :)

BUT, the baterry life of my UX is terrible
maybe i want to take "IPOD baterry modded" for my ux

BTW, does anyone know how to connect my motorola E680i phone with this UX-50
does it require to add more driver or something?

thanks.all

Before you do anything else, drain the battery completely, recharge and restore from backup - it's well known that a hard reset doesn't actually wipe the memory fully as it should. A full drain of the battery, however, will. Worth a try?

I took my UX50 apart to see what was wrong, and to replace the battery.

What is happening in this case is the ribbon cable that connects to the camera assembly is held on with a plastic clip. Over time the plastic clip has spread, allowing the ribbon cable to shift when the camera rotates. I think what happens is the ribbon cable touches contacts it is not supposed to, hence the error message. There is no easy way to remove the clip without more extreme disassembly, and no room to add a metal clip for example.

What you probably see is that the camera is fine until you rotate it enough so it is facing away from you. That was my temporary solution (not rotate it); for a more permanent fix I glued a piece of plastic inside to act as a "stop".

I then found a brand new UX50 on eBay for $75 buy it now, and this was never used, just needed a new battery.
