"Hate" is probably too strong a word, but, no I'm not a fan of Windows Mobile. If I was issued a WM Treo for work, would I use it? Ya, probably. But I'd much rather have a Palm OS device.

Umm, I've been doing wireless sync for years.... Oh yea I'm using a lifedrive, not a device contolled by a wireless carrier.

Good podcast.
Missing Coke gulps welcome.

The wire will always be required for battery charging; so may as well just keep wired data sync as a backup to WiFi.

Wireless HotSync'ing on Tungsten C, T3+Wi-Fi card, T5+Wi-Fi card, LifeDrive, and the TX.

I really think that depends on usage. I cable HotSync my Treo because BT is too slow and there is no Wi-Fi support. I spend a lot of time at my home office computer, so it's no big deal to drop the Treo into the cradle and HotSync.

However...I keep a spare charger in the kitchen. When I get home from work, I'll take the TX off the charger and start using it and then pop the 700p on.

There is no need for me to cable HotSync the TX anymore.

Palm needs to insert a paper in the box with pictures showing how to setup up wireless Hotsync on the TX e.g., screenshot of how/where to find computer name, how to walk through the TX wireless setup, etc.

Preferably, the instructions should be as simple as this:
"Press this BIG pretty button, it will ask you for your 'computer name', press Sync."

Alan this is a little bit off topic... Do you have any update regarding the 3rd business that Jeff Hawkins is secretly developing ?? Yesterday during the CTIA HTC announced a new breed of mobile device called the HTC Shift. If Jeff Hawkins is developing a similar device in my opinion HTC is already a head start against Palm.

All that I know is that Jeff Hawkins is speaking at Walt Mossberg's D Conference this year. D Conference is being held in May this year. (I don't have the date handy.) I expect the May-June time frame to be full of new announcements and products.

Palm has been uber secretive about their business. Ed Colligan and 5 other top company executives will be on hand for the 4/10/07 Analyst's day in New York City. I don't expect there to be any new product announcements at this event, but we should get an idea of where Palm is headed over the next year.

To be honest, I'm really not that interested in the Windows Mobile side of mobile computing. To that end, I really haven't read anything about HTC's plans to bring the Shift to market.

I'll have more updates, news, and analysis for you as the news breaks here on the 1SRC podcast.

Anyone else just expect Alan to end that with "I'm Alan G. Goodnight and Goodluck." :) :) :)

There has been surprising little news about the Hawk. I am sure I am one of many that search the world wide web for any hint of a hint. What happened to the good old days of rumor and blury images. Until May I guess I will just keep watching those iPhone videos ;)
