Guys
Its my first time to post so I'm not sure if i'm doing this right.
I just need a little help from you Tech GURU's. please please please
Let me tell you a very short story. I have a friend who had the chance to Go to HongKong for a vacation Trip. And with that, I ask him to buy me a USB flash drive. What she got for me was an 8.0 Gigabytes USB Flash Drive. She Bought it only for about (Php 4,000) $US 83!!!
It was really cheap... so I took it from her after she came back and I tried to use it(hands a little shaky)
It would appear that it was fine... I pop it in, then Win XP Pro recognizes it and installs the driver, and i can see it as one of the device(drive).
I tried to add a simple file, I think I add a simple MP3 file (3.3 MB). It copied it succesfully now I removed the USB but i removed it safely 1st, then I tried to Pop it back in (out of curiousity). And my world collapsed! the file was not there. I can't beleived it at 1st, so i tried to copy a lot more smaller file and did the same steps, still, afterplugging it back, files is gone.
Im sure that a file was copied since after copying and before removing the drive, i tried to close all window and check it again, and it is still there. Only when removing it from the USB port does the file also disappear.
I have a very very limited-little knowledge with computers :( , so I tried to format(or reformat) it from the Windows Explorer Screen. and it ask me for a label and I clicked yes, but it wont complete. It goes as far as 98-99% then it says that it cant be reformatted... There is NO switch or a locking mechanism on the USB flash drive so I'm sure its not write protected. I tried to use the Windows disk management (diskmgmt.msc). It goes about 98-99% then it says it wont format from there or wont format the drive...
The USB flash drive is not branded... It would appear that it was manufactured in china or somewhere, and it actually claims that its a vaio(since on the flash drive it self, there is a big logo of vaio) But I know that its not.
I still hope there is something that I can do... or perhaps other Computer OS might help. Linux? MAC?
