Can anyone read german? I found this link which has some english in it, but the english part of the page sounds an awful lot like those old 'Do this or the world ends.' hoaxes.

I doubt there's a real problem here, but if there is someone able to do even a loose translation, it could grant me peace of mind.

Kewl! The ratty translation is more fun to read than if it were done well.
CAUTION: Abzocke with alleged Palm virus Lately apparent again the enamels, which warn before an alleged "Ben Laden" virus, accumulate themselves up which PalmOS Organizer to strike are. Here there was already times an increased arising of these enamels before somewhat more than one year. For examining the Organizers a Tool is offered for the Download, which scans the Organizer for viruses. This Tool can be started only in the demo mode and indicates thereby usually a repeated virus infestation, however one must buy only the full version of the program, in order to be able to remove these also. Before the purchase of the program urgently one advises against!!! As soon as the Shareware is de-energised to the full version, as by charm hand no more viruses are found on the PDA. Here someone wants to apparent abzocken with the fear of a virus infestation the user. Here the text of such a "warning":
And then the English section. So there is an Email floating around warning of a Ben (note the misspelling) Laden virus, advocates a solution of demo virus detection, which really INFECTS you with the virus, and you have to pay for the entire solution instead of using the demo, which just infected you.
Those sneaky basteges.
Actually, the news item warns about a virus scanner that detects multiple infections while in demo mode. Once you pay for your software and use it your Palm device is magically 'cleaned'.
