Just a quick question - I plan to use a SanDisk Extreme III (SDCFX3-4096-902) as the replacement for a dead MD. Using the dmesg command under Debian I get a couple of lines looking like...

hdd: attached ide-disk disk driver.
hdd: 8027712 sectors (4110 MB) w/1KiB Cache, CHS=7964/16/63, DMA

From what I have read in the "Replacing MD with Flash and Part" thread the CHS values can cause problems if incorrect. Values of 7940, 7942 and 8146 have been spotted.

Can someone please tell me if the FlashDisk I have bought is acceptable as a MD substitute?

Thanks

Donald

Should be, I'm using an Ultra II

The Extreme III has been used with success by some.
