View Full Version : Compact Flash Driver / Utility to Rom using Jackflash?

Maybe this has been answered elsewhere, but anyone tried
to move the driver to Rom using Jackflash?

I got displayed the driver is in use, therefor it canīt be moved.
Even after Warm-resetting the driver is still in use.

Anyone got a solution for this?

Not really, but it would be nice for it to be there if you have to hard reset.

Some have said they have done it, moving the driver and utility will save about 30K. I don't know if there are any issues that might develop over time.

It's my understanding that on PalmOS5 you can't use anything you have stored in the ROM after a hard reset without first running FlashEnable. JackSafe doesn't work on OS5. I'd love to have the driver after a hard reset, but the only way I see to do that right now is to back up to the Memory Stick.

That's true. I forgot about having to use FlashEnable. Great suggestion. Thanx.

I just saw another good point mentioned in another thread. After a hard reset, your hotsync ID is erased. The only way to get it back is to do a full restore from the MS, or to hotsync. If your CF driver is in ROM, and you have a hard reset, your RegKey will not work because you don't have a hotsync ID anymore. And that's assuming you are carrying around your Reg code. So it looks like backing up to the CF will not be a good solution, because when you need to restore, you won't be able to get to the CF slot.
