I was curious to know if anyone is using iSync with their Clie. In specific, I have been reading and understand that if you use iSync then you are forced to use iCal.
I was wondering if anyone was successful using iSync with the Palm Desktop, and then with a T86i phone.
Thanks,
Ivan

I think with iSync you have to use iCal, yes.

Can you install apps using iSync? In other word scan you move PRC files to the PDA RAM via iSync or do you have to use PD.

Just use the HotSync to install apps, it also triggers iSync to sync with iCal etc

Hot Sync Manager is an independent application from Palm Desktop, so that what you would use no matter what you use to for your PIM application.

I use iSync, as well as QueueSync, which syncs up with my OfficeX applications. It takes a couple of syncs to get everything together, but eventually, it will all match up and then iSync will transfer it all to my phone and iPod.
In the end, it doesn't really matter if you use iCal or AddressBook or not, but that will be the "bridge" that iSync uses to transfer to your iPod, phone and other devices. The .Mac feature is also quite nice, keeping my home and work machines in sync with each other.

STILL UNREGISTERED BECAUSE THE MODERATORS HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO MY EMAILS FOR MORE THAN 2 MONTHS.
Don't expect to get all 3 in sync, I can't, it's crazy.

No, it's completely doable.
First, get your Clie synced with your PIM of choice to your satisfaction. The best way to do this is to set up one or the other and then, in your conduit settings , have the device that is set up overwrite the one that isn't.
Second, set up the iSync conduit, disable your PIM conduit, and sync. You'll probably wind up with a lot of conflicts, just resolve them all from your handheld.
Third, open iCal and Address Book and clean up any messes you find. This usually amounts to little more than deleting some errant entries.
Fourth, in iSync, select Reset All Devices and choose This Computer. Before you click Reset All, hit the sync button. When Conduit Manager reaches the iSync part, it will hang while it waits for your response. Now click Reset All.
Finally, reactivate your PIM conduit.
Everything is now in sync, and you don't ever have to use iCal or Address Book again. The only caveat is that iSync will probably sync before your PIM, so your iPod and phone will be one sync behind changes made in your PIM app.
It looks like a lot of steps, but it really can all be done in less than an hour.

I'm thinking about iSync, but hesitating because I heard that the notes (memo) feature of your PD is not supported in Addressbook...is it true?
p.s. Still not registered despite having "registered", go figure ClieSource, duh

I don't use AddressBook that extensively. I mostly use Entourage, but I do use AddressBook as a bridge to keep my Entourage address book synchronized with my phone and my wife's laptop.
iCal supports To Do Lists, but not Memos. And neither supports notes attached to Contacts or Events. But at the same time, it doesn't seem to delete or modify them.
