Just loaded it onto my 680 and up comes a dialog box "Device not supported!" followed by a reset.

Dmitry, I totally appreciate your work and think you're a great developer, but, geez, a couple words on the download page saying this woulda saved folks like me a little bit of grief.

Edit: Oh my gawd! I'm stuck in a reset loop!!! Dmiiiiiittrryyyyy!!!!!!!

I disagree. There is nothing on the above provided link or this thread that indicate it's only for those PDAs with a statusbar. There may be a discussion somewhere else about this, but the download site should at least state not to install if you are using certain devices.

Is this version configurable?

alanNot much that I can tell. Run it and you get a battery in your status bar. Delete it and reset, and you don't.

Oh, BTW, ricktt3 is right. And this way of "explaining" software is typical there.

no, no config.

I think no big sense in discussing it all again as there is a long thread here about this on the board

Screenshot would be nice.

See Post #24 in the thread that Tosbsas provided the link for... cyberDude had provided one there.

Also - I think it's really sweet for DG to offer this as donateware to an organization that sounds like it's doing really cool work. Thanks DG and Tosbsas!!
:D

Edit: StatBatt is the bottom Battery icon NOT the upper battery icon in Cyberdudes screenshot.

I think he uses the battery icon in the statusbar skin. ie. Tap the statusbar clock.

I think he uses the battery icon in the statusbar skin. ie. Tap the statusbar clock.Sure enough! But it doesn't just pull the icon from the clock. The charge state indicators are not exactly the same at the same time. See the screenshot. Edit: But there aren't any bitmaps in statbatt.prc, so they are coming from the OS in some manner.

In my case the statbat icon is comming from CP's OSX DIA skin.

What happened? Try again:

And if you decompile the OSX DIA CP posted it contains a big blue capsule and another with a lightning bolt. I seem to recall a post by DG in which he mentioned where he was getting the icons?

Edit:

Of course the % is being added by Statbat as well as the popup showing voltage.

I see. I thought you meant that the bitmaps were in statbatt itself. So statbatt is borrowing graphics from the current skin, not furnishing them itself. And I was hoping to see the smaller battery that CP designed for ShowBattery.

Exactly.

To get a smaller icon you could decompile, edit and recompile but then the 'clock tap' battery indicator would be small. :(

I guess a smaller icon could be added to the skin but DG would have to use it????? Sounds like a lot of trouble all around?

I am just reluctant to give up as much of the status bar as statbatt requires is all. Especially to reproduce information contained elsewhere on most launcher screens. But it seems statbatt is the opening part of a larger status bar customization application. It should be interesting to see what it allows when it comes out.

Church Punk

yes, statbatt uses the resources from the active skin (not the same configuration on the clockpopup), adjusting the battery levels different as the clock popup, but using the same bmps...

FerdFerd:

I'm looking forward to what DG comes up with but for the time being I'll be using ShowBattery and a modded icon because it looks better to me.

FerdFerd:

I'm looking forward to what DG comes up with but for the time being I'll be using ShowBattery and a modded icon because it looks better to me.Same here. I'm happy with the selection of battery skins out there (he said, not too modestly), and I especially don't want to take up the space of three current functions on the status bar, which statbatt does now. I wouldn't use anything if statbatt were all that was available. But Alex Pruss has said he doesn't use ShowBattery anymore and that Dmitry Grinberg's way of doing it is the right way. So watchful waiting is in order, I guess. But until I run into some incompatibility with ShowBattery, I'm delighted to have it.

well i can get it to do same as showbattery does easily

Does anyone still have the battery drain issue with Statbatt? Seems like my battery drains faster with it.

Since this was just a kind of proof of concept idea, hasn't this expired already?

dmitrygr

no. this one is not.
it is just that i have 90 hrs of classwork and 20 hours of lectures a week, and something about my body's need for sleep and food that limits my ability to develop :-), so i release this now. and full customizer a bit later

I really like Statbatt, just the right size on the status bar for me.

The only problem I find is that I keep accidentally hitting it and getting the Information window (proof of concept app etc). Would it be an easy change to disable this please? Still keeping the longer press for battery voltage info.

Thank you.
